There are no codes for the early paints.
VMR seems to be a popular choice for the paint, they have worked out the colors. I had a brown one back in the day, it faded very quickly. Maybe newer paints will hold up better.

Forum member Kevin D has a very good looking K1 I think he gave new paint.

I used 2013 Honda Accord tiger eye pearl. It isn't a perfect match but the one I had painted was stunning. I also used K2 stripes with the gold, black and pearl white colors. Base coat/clear coat so it's also not a true candy paint and easier to apply.

No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Must have used a green base with the brown candy over the top because green is a color it likes to fade out to.

I thought it was a Green base with Red candy on top to create the brown...
It was two shade with the top color not holding up to the UV exposure

Probably right. Of the 3 bikes I have of that color 2 have held the color pretty well and one has gone pretty green in spots. Want to keep them stored covered in a dark spot.

This brown one has held its color well, the second one is my 'greenie'. Sold a 1976 550 once that was really going green badly. This low miles 550 I still have was stored well and is holding the color well also.

I think the guy that painted these told me he used a FORD Maverick colour from the ‘70’s!
