Laser training cartridges
« on: November 08, 2023, 07:37:16 PM »
I just heard about these a week ago, and got my hands on one a couple of days ago. They are a practice cartridge, similar to a snap-cap, but when the firing pin hits the rubber button on the end, a red laser shoots down the center of the barrel onto whatever target you point it at. It's a great training aid, and fun to use without burning up a bunch of ammo at the range. ;D

Are those the ones with the special target that will record on your phone or laptop?

If you don't mind, what was the cost?

Jim, I just got the cartridge itself, not the target system that works with a phone. The Pink Rhino .45ACP cartridge I got cost $40, but there are lots of different brands out there, with prices as low as $18. Considering the price of ammo these days, I think it's a pretty good deal; the last time I went to the range, I went through about $80 worth of shells. ;)

Thanks for the tip! I reload, but go thru about 100 rds/week. The primers have been hard to get since Covid. Some less-expensive approach would be good: the Mantis-X thingies don't fit non-railed barrels like mine.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

In our area primers are slowly coming back - all but Large Rigle.
