After-market Badges "All Cycle Supply"
« on: November 09, 2023, 02:09:40 PM »
My replica side-cover badges arrived. I got the pair from All Cycle Supply for $26... flat. No shipping charge. Backing clips included.

They are much nicer than I expected. I assumed that they would be plastic, but they are actually chromed metal. The wings are painted white and the background is of course black. They are larger than expected too at 3" x 3.5".

The stems for attaching them are 1/2" long... twice as long as OEM K2-K8 emblem stems, but hopefully it will be okay. Meh, if the stems hit my oil tank I'll trim them, but hopefully I won't need to.

My motorcycle's engine and frame are different years and my paint isn't stock, so there was no point in trying to use the "correct year" badges. I picked what would look good to me. ;P  ...$26 for sidecover badges... Mm mm. Can't beat that with a stick.

Badges? We ain't got no badges, we don't need no stinking badges!

Movie quote, I couldn't resist. I got a pair of FB-stuff ones, they are black plastic, I painted them with silver paint and sanded the high spots with worn out 400 grit. Be sure to get the wings flying forward.
Yours look better than the aftermarket ones on my K0, I may have to get a set of them.

Good quote! Even better engine... dang, you got the chrome valve cover and all. Very cool. I'd have thought the emblems were stock if you hadn't told me.

But empty-headed me, my post was meant to be a PSA about affordable parts at All Cycle Supply but I just rambled on. I think I got "chrome high".

I skipped the side badges on my bike and bondo'd the holes. I also skipped the Honda plaque on the tailpiece along with the chrome seat/tailpiece. Anyone who doesn't know what is can ask.

Bike looks good Tim, an "F" connoisseur will see several custom touches. I'm a fan of triple disc 750's. I've been hoarding two rear disc sets for a custom, F1 and F2. I've heard the F1 caliper is favored over the F2 not sure why.

I also got a set of those rubbish black plastic side panel badges, I went to a company that does plastic chrome plating, yes they could do them but they have a minimum charge a £65! Not so cheap after all.

Vintagecb750 also supplies those in expensive metal badges.

They are in fact much nicer than you’d think, but the posts are very fragile.

I had a set that broke one post, ordered another set and could definitely see a varying quality in them in terms of machine marks that could be seen in the colored pockets. One set had much more pronounced tool marks around the edge.

You can’t see from 2 feet away but up close you can. Don’t know if the Yamiya badges are the same way, couldn’t justify the price to find out.

L0L, I warmed mine up and bent them to fit the curve of my side covers, the fake chrome paint I used matches the Rat Race's silver stripes perfectly. I'm a fan of them, mine were a "good customer" bonus that came along with a large order.

I checked out all cycle supply, they have a good selection, prices aren't bad and some of the parts have a better appearance then the not so original type stuff I've been getting at 4-1.
I have a set of those same badges. Mine have dimples where the posts are attached otherwise, they would be pretty good.
