Checked ring end gap today, had to file a few.

Top and 2nd ring end gaps are set to .007-.008",  left 3 piece oil rings as they were ~.009".

Rings installed on pistons, pistons installed on rods with assembly lube on wrist pins.  Rings staggered and oiled.

Plan to install cylinder block and head tomorrow.  Cylinders have been wiped with acetone at least 5-6 times with paper towels remaining white.

Will wipe one more time with a cloth before install.
Clean is good.....
Looks great...
Start with the end in mind...

Re-torqued head and installed camshaft, appears to be timed correctly.

Blue Loctite on camshaft sprocket bolts.

1-4 at TDC, with centerline cutout of cam shaft lined up to top of head.

Honda badges stripped and re-painted with Testors model enamel paint, and a syringe.

After the white dries, will go around the letters with a Q-tip and acetone to clean up.

Very tedious job;labor of love.

Made some progress the last couple of days....

Engine in, carbs were cleaned and put together earlier but I bench tested today with gas, no leaks.

Installed oil filter, carbs and air box with new air filter.  Still have 4 in to 1 Delkevic to install, along with brake pedal and breather system hoses, all cables and etc.

I just ordered a battery so will be about a week before it arrives.

I just ordered a battery so will be about a week before it arrives.
I ordered a battery in January over here in the UK for a 550 about 6.30 in the evening from a supplier over 200 miles away. I was stunned when it arrived here before 11:30 in the morning the next day.

Installed chain, chain guard, electric panel (with all connections), left side transmission cover, gear shift, rear brake arm, and finally rear brake pedal.

Wired and installed electronic ignition.

Waiting on battery and a couple of emissions hoses for air box and plenum.

Still to do:
Clean out gas tank and install new filter screen/seal on petcock.
Install kickstart arm.
Install emission hoses to air box.
Install battery box and battery.
Install clutch, gas cables.
Install oil.

The big one is deciding what paint color to use for tank and side covers........

Hopefully can start next week with auxiliary tank.

Thanks, It was VHT Epoxy first coat, and then 2 coats of VHT Roll Bar and Chassis paint.

That's a good, hard base and the roll bar/chassis paint should hold-up under lot's of stress through the years;better than original.

Hey guys, quick question...The headlight on my '77 cb550k isnt working. Im reading only 6volts at the bullet connectors terminating at the headlight. Any ideas why I am not getting 12?
Thanks in advance!
