Thanks. Its just a throw together piece but it seems to be well worth my effort so far. Hopefully I can put this junkyard dog in the winners circle at some point. I haven't spent much to build it because I tried to stick with my plan of using the parts i already had in the shop. That new rear tire was my biggest single expense.  If my calculations are correct,  i built the bike for less than $1000, not factoring what i paid for the parts and pieces i hoarded over the last 25 years that got thrown into the project. . Lol.

Did you ever secure all the body work you needed for the bike??

Its got a slider clutch. I should have brought the rpms up a bit below the point of movement as i was rolling into the staging beams. I was somewhat concerned it would pull me through the lights if i missed that perfect  stall spot..

Trouble in paradise. Well it looks like the honeymoon is over. The Ugly Duckling decided to show its rear end to me. Not certain if i neglected to tighten the sprocket nut or if it gradually back off but the end results is not good.  Its got a 3" offset sprocket with a bearing support on the end. I noticed the chain kept getting loose after each pass and needed tightening. I used a cheap, unstretched chain so i figure that was  the  culprit. Its obvious now the sprocket was moving on the end of the output shaft. I ordered a new chain and was putting it on last night when i decided to rotate the sprocket. I heard a weird noise so i took the supports plate off. The sprocket then fell off behind it-WTH?,  Oh well.  Now i have to remove the engine, split the cases and replace the output shaft. My main issue now is sourcing another 3 " offset sprocket. I've got a lot of work to do in a short while. I intended to race this bike at the Man Cup event in a week or so.

So sorry to see this carnage... At least the failure was not something that caused an accident or bodily harm. Very disappointing but like lots of things, it can be fixed with a combination of time, parts, and some labor...

Pulled the engine a few nights ago with assistance from my shop helper. I split the cases last night and removed the output gear shaft cluster. I've got to dig through my stash of parts to locate a donor shaft and then transfer the gears after a clise inspection. Hope to have it back together and on the frame by Sunday afternoon.

Yes. It only damaged the splines on the outside.  I put my hands on a good, donor transmission this afternoon.  I also received an offset sprocket in the mail this afternoon from a good friend.  I should be back in operation by tomorrow night if all goes well.

I finally got motivated enough tonight to jump back into swapping the gears from the damaged output shaft onto the replacement shaft. Shop dog was whining because we got a late start but we completed the task and buttoned the engine bsck up. Unfortunately I came to a screeching halt when i discovered the sprocket i recieved from a friend had less than pristine splines. I'm just not comfortable with the fit so I'm still on the hunt for a 3 " offset sprocket. I'll go ahead and reinstall the engine later today while i try to locate another sprocket. I have a few potential sources but have to drive at least 2 hours one way to retrieve one. Oh well,  its all a part of racing.
