so a month ago the recently disassembled, painted reassembled, had no spark at the plugs. month goes by and out of nowhere i'm lookin at the clutch while doing the crank test. so i pull it and i got spark. i never paid any attention, apparently the other 400 clutch switch doesn't work.

so last night the first sign of life for just a second, was pretty cool. only not enough oil to the top end and possibly anywhere. putting the oil pan on the pickup screen was pretty loose and i didn't have a new oring so it went back with the old one, i was thinking it might swell up, but it's alittle loose. i thought about it, but i've never ever put a new oring on those screens, in 40yrs of riding one. and the little oil line was brittle and it held the screen holder up in there as  usual. so i'll check there first. is it possible that it could suck air and not feed the pump? it kind of looks like oil dripping off of the cam or what i can see of it, if that's it, both sides but not sure and it's not spraying at all. and looks not oiled at the spring on the rocker shafts, not wet. i didn't prime it when the motor was out, but i filled the cam reservoirs. as best i could by a pour spout oil can poked in there and pushed the can for  awhile both sides. another question, if while finding the problem would a rich mix of 2 stroke oil was used and drawn into the intake wouldn't that kind of help a little.

2 stroke oil mix in the intake will only lubricate the valve seat and top of the piston, so, probably no help. From the intake port there is no way for it to reach the cam or rockers.

if was a rough night, i didn't think about that, but i forgot to mention a strange thing last night trying it out, 1 kick and the oil pressure light goes out, and stays out for at least 30 or more seconds before the pressure drops enough to come back on. please don't tell me that a blockage in the reduction passages  to the cam shaft could cause that scenario.
