There Are No Stupid Questions
« on: November 21, 2023, 10:34:54 AM »
Well, at least that's what I tell myself when it comes to bike mechanical stuff. I'm not a mechanic, so I forgive myself to some degree.
Question: What are the four (4) small, threaded holes for on the inside of a 1977/78 750F alternator cover for?
Thanks for any and all replies.

I ordered a cover from these folks, and saw the schematic. No, it's no help. Don't know what the four (4) small, threaded holes are for on the insider of the cover.

Then do you have a picture to show what holes you are asking about?

Are they not for the 4 screws #17 that hold the windings #7 to the case??

If I understand the question, the stator is secured to the cover with four screws to the inside of the cover.

Have you removed the old one yet?

Interesting screws and those four can be difficult to remove. The threaded hole is half in the case and half in the stator. Usually takes my hand held impact driver (with a long extension) to get them out. Take care reinstalling to ensure the cut threads are well aligned with the screw!
