Man Cup race recap

Just wanted to post a brief summary of our race weekend.

Saturday started off with a horrible incident for us. My wife was checking the 2 step on her bike when it unexpectedly launched and she went up the ramp and inside the trailer. She was momentarily pinned under the bike but i got it off of her right away. It stopped when it ran into the back of my top gas bike. Thank God she wasn't seriously injured.  She has bruising on the inside of her thighs, a contusion on her ankle and bruising on her wrist. Overall she walked away unscathed given the nature of the mishap.  Her bike was damaged but rebuildable.

I entered 3 classes but had intended to run 4. With my top gas bike damaged i left it alone for the weekend. I ran v twin, pro ET and entered the,Honda in street ET.  I went out 1st round in v twin on a breakout pass,  and loss 2nd round on a redlight. I made it to the 4th round in pro ET  on the Ugly Duckling project dragbike and rhen broke out.  I made it to the final 5 in street ET but had shifting issues that plagued me the round before.

Again,  I'm just grateful the wife is okay. The racing simply wasn't the same afterwards.

Bad news/good news. Just glad Gladys is mostly OK. She's tough.

The bike took off WOT into the trailer. Rim bent when she hit the axle adjuster on my bike. It came to a dead stop because my bike was still tied down although it got flipped on its,side from the impact. This could have ended badly but God kept her safe.

 When I started reading, I had a flashback to seeing a 37 Chevy that did the same thing. Kid in the drivers seat, and the parents got pinned in the trailer. Everyone went home on Monday after a short hospital visit. The 37 shoved the golf cart right out the front of the trailer and the trailer jack stopped it all from going into the back of the truck. A guy shut the car off before I could reach it.
 I'm glad you and Gladys came out OK, it's difficult to focus on racing after something like that.

A few pictures the morning after. The bruising spread and got darker.

She's tough. I would have been crying like a baby and begging for attention.

Wow! Glad God had an angel watching over Gladys before she got hurt worse...glad you both are OK.

Too bad track/race officials would look poorly over you sinking a couple long eyes rew bolts in the ground to anchor the bike down with straps to prevent unintended forward movement...

That bruise is gonna hurt for a week... Gladys and you are in my prayers, for thanks you were not hurt worse and for her healing.

We learned a few things from this incident and will make adjustments going forward.

Current assessment on the bike: we got it in the shop and put it on the stands. I pulled the front wheel and the rim ban is beyond straightening. I had an extra rim and installed it to check the fron fork alignment.  That rim is slightly warped so i won't be using it except to move the bike around the shop. A friend in Cali had a new one for sale so i bought it yesterday.  It should arrive by Wednesday. The wheelie bars are definitely bent and will have to be replaced with a new set.  Both lower mounting brackets are bent so new ones are needed. The foot peg mounts on both sides are bent so I'll have to fabricate new ones. The fairing mounts might be tweaked some and the front fender is cracked but repairable.  Its the off season now so we should have sufficient time to get it back in order before the season opens up in 2024. Oh yeah, it was due for an engine freshen ip so I'll be pulling it off for a tear down soon. Lots to do. In the end,  I'm grateful the wife is okay and healing up well.
