Got my new seat back today.
« on: March 15, 2007, 03:43:38 PM »
Just picked up my newly covered seat today and I'd have to say that I am very pleased with it. The bike is a 77 CB750 with a "76 tank. I had to modify the seat brackets to move the seat forward. Oh and I found a cool little Autometer gauge for the oil, less than the ones you find on Ebay, $30. And it matches my speedo and tach.  ;D

Don't mind the body work

Nice and bright, so my blind ass can see it.

That looks great! Who did the seat for you?

Your bike is looking awesome! The drag bars are a nice compromise and look the part.

P.S. I just love seeing motorcycles in the living room. That’s what it’s all about.

Cheers

Where did you mount your oil pressure gauge?

If only I could get my bike past the 4 stairs to my family room :(

Man Oh Man, That IS turning into one fine creation there! 8) ;) Keep up the good work and keep those details and pictures coming. ;) I don't really ONE area of the bike that I like. I just like it all. I like the look of the motor, the seat and the front end looks just right even with the fender. The fender looks like it just blends in with the rest of the bike, and that's the way it should be.

BTW, even if I could get my bike in the house, it'd be a guaranteed way to meet my maker earlier than I normally would. ;D  More power to you all who can do this. ;)

                                                         Later on, Bill :) ;)

Your bike is looking good! Excellent job on the seat. Really nice garage. I do like that gauge. Few more details about the gauge please. Where did you find it & how much? I could use 2.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Thanks guys, I like it as well. I gave the guy the mod. seat pan with a drawing and I think he did a great job.

I got the seat done for free. There is and 72 year old guy I used to work with that owns his own shop, and Ive helped him out a few times over the years, so he payed me back you could say. I tried to pay him, but he woudn't take any money from me. Karma I guess ;)

The gauge is mounted in the oil galley plug on the right side of the engine. It is an Autometer gauge #2177, they come in black too. I found it for $30 to my door.

Some may not like the couch, but I've had it for quite a while and it's sooo ugly, I gotta keep it.

Oh, and I had too get it up 5 stairs to put it in the living room and I know it'll be a fun ride down the plank and out the door.

Would you mind asking your friend what foam he used for the hump?

I thought you were suppose to connect the gauge to the oil pump just under the left sprocket cover???

I've seen several with gauges, over the years, and I think they all were mounted on the right like that.

Well, I built the seat, he covered the seat. The hump is molded from spray foam in a can (Home Depot) and then covered with fiberglass matte. It was then finished up with body filler to smooth it out, a couple coats of primer, then sealed. Oh yeah, then covered. Where I place my butt is modified stock '77 CB750K foam.

I dug up the packing slip for the gauge...Atlantic Speed is the name of the company and I see it was $34 to the door, not $30. And I DID get it of Ebay. :-X My bad. I just knew the Autometer makes these cool little gauges from when I built drag cars.

Hope you all can use the info. Autometer #2177

Whoa, that'll be a tough one. It's a "L" couch, and quite vintage. Made the same year as I was, 1975. When I got it, it was still in plastic.  ;)

Thanks for the pic. Hey that's a nice tail end too! Where did you get the lamp? I think I've seen it someone on a site that sells generic tail lamps. I want to get rid of my ugly stock lamp. Bike looks really good.

I don't really remeber where it came from, CRC bike parts, I think. Its an old british bike knock off. It was around $39.
Thanks for the compliment. \

Have a good one.
