022A Carburetor Slide Alignment tab Gone
« on: December 04, 2023, 07:07:51 PM »
Hello yall,
Recently during an adjustment to my '73 CB550k, while putting the slides back in I noticed by #1(far left if on bike) carburetor round slide can spin in place. After taking it back out promptly I have found that the tab area for the alignment tab is smooth. Can these wear smooth? On another note, is there anything I can do now that this is damaged besides source another carburetor as the slide aperture is off center?

Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Never heard of that! Is it in a location where you could drill a hole through the body and set a properly shaped “pin” through the hole? Permanently glued in place?

Maybe also your carbs have been in a ultrasonic bath.
