CB400 Handlebars
« on: December 02, 2023, 07:17:58 AM »
Bars on my 76 400F are way too low. Any recommendations for risers preferably where I don't have to change/lengthen cables and brake lines? Thanks.

Un-clamp your bars, raise them up and get an idea of how much slack you have in your stock cables and brake lines...that should give you an idea of if you want a 1,2,3,4 inch riser on there.

I use rox brand risers, one the expensive side but very nice and well built.

My wife didn't like the reproduction handlebars on her 400f either so I put on a set of reproduction bars for a cb550f instead. It made all the difference and she loves the bike now, they are a bit taller than the 400f bars but still short enough to work with the brake line going to the MC.

400Fs came with low (Europe?) and high bars (North America?). Try and find a set, either works with the stock cables. I bought a set for my wife’s ‘76 (like Scott’s wife, she hated the low bars) and she far preferred them!

The “low” bars went on my 1978 550K and they were great!

The last year 1977' CB400F came with bars(53100-377-710)a little bit taller than the earlier 400F low bars.
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !

i believe there are two different part numbers for the cables, one for the lower bars and a different number for the higher bars in 77.
