Topic: Help..How to kickstart gear roll pin removal

Help!!!!
Rebuilding a 1970, K) motor. How do I remove the roll pin so that I can replace the bearing??
I don't want to damage the case.

Use a quality squared off pin punch.

What bearing are you referring to? There is no bearing inside the kickstart gear.
But, to pull the pin: I use a flat-blade screwdriver and a pair of Vise-Grip pliers. Lay the flat blade on the pin's support surface and then press the pliers against them, and set the pliers tight enough to squeeze the roll pin a little bit. The gently wedge the pliers upward with the screwdriver. You'll have to do this maybe 10 times as it inches (millimeters?) the pin upward and you also get more purchase on the roll pin, so it gets easier as it goes.

If the pin is all bent and squished shut after you get it out, you can use that same screwdriver blade to spread it back out little by little until it is back to normal spread in the open slot.

To put the kickstarter shaft/gear back in is harder...

I just assumed that their was a bearing. Perhaps their is no good reason to take that aspect apart for the complete overhaul?
It does spin freely, and feels tight, with no "funny" grinding or wobble/looseness.
The bike does have over 60k miles. Your input and expertise is appreciated.

It should be fine. I don't remove them unless I have to, like for a full case-wash in the machine shop's parts washer. Those washers will put grit into the bearing (any bearing) that is impossible to remove.

...I won't tell you how I know that...
