Carb fuel hoses
« on: December 04, 2023, 12:28:01 PM »
1976 Honda 550F. I need to replace original fuel lines from tank to carbs. I can’t find the exact fit at Autozone or Oreillys. What is best and where can I get it? Thanks

You need 5.5mm fuel line. Many bike shops carry it in bulk to cut what you need. Measure your pieces.

Although 5.5mm is correct, I buy the 3/16" at Autozone, they sell it by the foot [cheap]. It's back behind the desk, at least at my local store.

Or for correct 5.5mm....

Make sure you get pipe suitable for ethanol, viton rubber is probably best

You can still get the good stuff at your friendly local Honda dealer.

i found out yesterday that a bombadeir jet ski from the earliest models has some pretty brutal gas lines, vent hoses with excellent pliability that have withstood the length of time better than any other fuel lines i've seen, clear and doubly resistant on account of it being a water safety feature of gas leaks. if you have one laying around or know someone that does, check out the fuel lines and the heater hoses that are used for the raw water discharge, plus the fuel tanks are huge and there's 1 or 2 more small tanks for what i don't know, vapor discharge i don't know. high quality material.  come to think of it, i rode a 250cc can am in mexico preriding, in the 70s, it could've been a 4speed. almost in any gear at any speed you just roll on the throttle and i'm not kidding the bike would 'raise up' from the inertia of the back wheel and roost. it was stock, you couldn't bog it if you tried. it handles a bit strange though. it was more like riding you, instead of you riding it.
