Is that a waste charging system? In other words, no regulator, but rather a zener regulator to bleed voltage/amperage away? It'd be nice if you could actually regulate the alternator somehow...

Waste charging system.  Hmmmm.  Just carry a bunch of replacement boards with me.  Simple design, I like it.
NOT!

I do plan on regulating the field coil voltage.  I am going to make a transisterized regulator that is not high/low like the original but rather have an analog charging curve so that the battery always has just the right amount of charging current.

Yes, that way the parts are always on there way no where I am or what happens.  I can just see it, a caravan of UPS trucks following me through the twisties.  Would make a good UPS commercial.

I thought the 350 had a permanent magnet rotor. In other words, there is no field current to regulate.

If I'm wrong and you do indeed have a field coil, read the link in my sig. You won't need to reingineer the regulator, and you can still say you put it together yourself.

Wow, thanks Pinhead!  I had no idea there was so much out there that had been developed.  I guess I need to pull my head from under the rock :P. Though I figure I could do it better :D (that's my problem, I always figure I can do it better and get myself into trouble). I will definitely use Coopers circuit or buy one of those ready made units.  Thanks again.

ps, the 350 has a field coil just like the rest of the SOHC4's.

More progress!  I have just created the 4 'halves' of the 2 air intake runners that will go from the intake air plenum to the carbs.  The air plenum will be created by enclosing the area between the tank and the frame backbone using a rubber skirt.  Due to space limitations, the intake runners can only be 1 pipe width at the top going to 2 pipes (1 for 2 carbs, paired per side).

Here are the 4 sink traps that will make up the intake runners, the template I created on my PC and my chop saw.



The jig was created by cutting 2 holes and securing 2 blocks of wood to position each piece.
Here is the 1st right hand intake in the jig ready to cut.



4 pieces after cutting: 2 right hand and 2 left hand.



The jig can now be used to glue a right hand and a left hand piece together creating one dual intake runner.
I will use Liquid Nails Mirrow Adhesive which is thick, sticky and sets up real strong.  Rubber sheet cut into strips will seal around the carb intake throats.

I really like modified CB400F's and 350F's, but I must say, You have Really out done your self  :) :) :) :)

I want to see more, and a short video clip wouldn't be to hard to ask. Would it??

Quite an interesting electrical conversion. You might want to consider something akin to
a giant condom for the bike if it rains.  ;D

Maybe all of us retired and working EE's can band together and design the perfect
stereo Bluetooth headset.  I don't like any I've seen on the market.  The Zumo and
the phone pair fine, but the Zumo to headset...yuck.

I actually found myself surfing around the web for Bluetooth IC's today......and I thought
I retired from all that.  ;D

Speaking of Bluetooth, an idea I had recently was to use a Bluetooth serial link to create a wireless heads-up display inside my helmet (fuel level, gear position, compass, boost pressure) like in the movie 'Time Rider'.
