Smartening up Front Disc
« on: December 14, 2023, 05:46:47 AM »
Set up my disc “dressing” stand yesterday. By hitting the spinning disc at a certain angle, the disc on the grinder gets it up to a nice speed. I then start pulling the sanding disc out and down at about the 8 o’clock position. Keeps the disc spinning and creates almost a machine pattern.

This seems to work for me and it turned out well! This disc was not pretty to start with. Three of the stock spacers and a couple of extra washers gets the axle nice and tight to the bracket, locked in the vice. The stock nut goes on backwards to engage the threads. When fabricating the axle stand, add a few gussets. My first version allowed for any vibration to get magnified  X speed. Make sure everything is tight!

Very clever and minimalist setup. I bet the disc works great after this.

Works really well with a fresh set of pads. They work best on a really clean disc! Looks good too.

Very nice outcome

Thanks Steve! I painted the caliper when I rebuilt it a while back and added new pads. Should all work fairly well.
