As far as I know the frame is made of brazed (not welded) thinwalled chromemoly tubing and finished in nickel plating  :)

Just like the Rickman CR.

  Those bikes are just too cool.
  I've got an Egli framed 750, unfortunately it isn't that Egli. This one is named Steve, lives an hour away from me.  L0L.  It is stretched, lowered and raked, you can take the motor apart in the frame like a 750A and a stock K tank fits it. He had a really good fabricator.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

The Rickman and Seeley frames were made from Reynolds 531 tubing, which is not the same alloy as chrome-moly. 531 has 5 parts manganese, 3 parts carbon, and 1 part molybdenum. It is always brazed, as the temperatures required for welding weaken the material. Chrome-moly can be welded.
The Seeley frame is also wide, but not as wide as your Martin!
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

A couple of pics of a Martin GSX frame that has had the plating removed.
The slightly yellow brazing can be seen all over, and it contrasts a lot to the tig welded repair of the pipe for the fairingstay in the second pic.

I like the look of that braze and it looks something better than torch-applied.
How do they apply the brazing to the Moto Martin frame tubing ?

I'm not aware of any other method than oxy-acetylene brazing, but I'm no expert...
I would say that back in 1982 it was all hand-produced with oxy-acetylene but again, I'm no expert...

You can braze with an electric arc , but you are right back then frames were made using oxy acetylene
And so they should !

I have read but don't know from experience that the MAP gas kits can braze. I'm going to try it out and see.

This thing has now had a thorough clean-up, very satisfying feeling to remove dirt and grime that has been sitting for almost 25 years  :)
No obvious unexpected problems found underneath the dirt, and a quick hookup to a battery confirmed a working starter, lights and a healthy spark on all four plugs  :D
