I have a minor pulse in the front brakes, the right rotor seemed to be out of true, so I got a dial indicator on it and tried to true it up a little. It was suggested paint or dirt on the backside could induce a wobble but it's pretty clean.
I tapped it with a wooden mallet, I got .008" runout down to about half of that.

The tuning guide said start at 2 turns and adjust both ways in 1/2 turn increments, end up in the middle, the mikuni parts page says 1/4 to 1/2 turn out.  I'm going with the tuning guide.
I see motion pro has a 90* angle carb screw turning tool. That might be worth the $30.

We have one of those Motion Pro tools. It works better when I put a small set of Vice grips on the middle of the shaft to hang onto.

Yeah, I have that tool also...very difficult to use because you cant actually feel if the driver bit is engaged in the screw slot...at least was like that on the bike I bought this to use for.  Can't remember if it was my Interceptor or my GSXR.

On both of our sets of RS carbs you can turn the mixture screws with your fingers.

I did use the finger only method as much as my worn out hands wanted to, I was shooting for precise turns but I should still be able to do it by hand and watch the screwdriver slot.

I've been looking at an ad for 83 katana look alike and another 81 that has a big bore engine with cams and a ported head.  I need to move along my K0 project and K7 runner.

I've noticed since I've been riding the GS1100 more how smooth the transmission is. This thing shifts like butter. With the PO not knowing anything about the history I wonder if it's been back-cut.

I think you are probably just noticing how truly clunky cb750 transmissions are...yeah, mine shifts like butter too, and have no proof, but there has never been any evidence that the engine has been apart

I'm seeing it rich almost everywhere, there's no hurry to correct it since it's way better than the 29's were. I plan to get in a good wide open throttle ride before I do any changes, I'm thinking one size pilot and one needle notch leaner. The main jets can wait since they are pretty easy to swap out.
I may take it to the drag races at Cordova this weekend to see what the drag bike guys think. I probably won't run it because running the car takes all of my time.

The Suzuki's definitely shift smoother than the Honda's. The Kawasaki's shift smoother too.

I read once that Suzuki took a few Kawasaki's apart and reverse engineered them. I'm sure Kawasaki did that with Hondas also.

The set of APE air filters that I ordered online but after a week nothing had happened, so I called the order in on April 16th and then finally cancelled on June 18th shipped today.

I had an order from a mini parts supplier go to lala land after it went to the shipper in Phoenix and after it not having any status updates after a full 7-10 days I questioned them. They shipped me replacement parts via 2 day ups and then 6 weeks later it magically started status and arrived 2 days later. Contacted them to say hey, remember that order that went mia, it arrived today. Wanna send me a shipping label or something to return it, was about $80-90 of parts, tools actually. Have to use their system to process it as a return to get shipping label after given authorization link. Send it back and they refund me the order...
Then the discussion to say...well, you refunded the money but you didn't charge me for the 2nd shipment to replace the missing parts.
Insanity...
Try to do right thing and it turns into a cluster headache.

After I bought the 36mm mikuni carbs I also tried to buy those filters there and they didn't have those either. I was smart enough to ask before placing the order the second time. The sales guy and I had a nice conversation about their filters, I was on hold a long time while he checked on it.

APE just sent me a sorry, the order can't be stopped e-mail. I'm not even sure which air filters they shipped. I had tried to buy the filters for the 29's and the 36's, When I called about the 36's I asked if they were in stock and was told those were also sold out with no ship date.
I guess I'm done with APE. Sorry Big Jay, RIP.

It appears by the credit card bill I'm getting the push/pull throttle cable again in addition to the air filters. These aren't the filters for the 29's, these are for the RS36's.

The folks at APE don't see how it's their fault. Even though I paid for, and they already shipped one of the two parts that I called about June 2. I might keep the push pull cable for the 29 smoothbores on the cb750 dragbike.

I looked at my RS36 Mikuni manual again and now see the low speed screw adjustment going from 1/8 to 1/2 turn and 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Elsewhere I had read 2 1/2 turns and then go in and out in half turn increments to find the sweet spot.
I believe I'll ignore what I read elsewhere and try again at 3/8 of a turn out. At 2 1/2 turns it's probably using the pilot jets full flow. Now it has the factory 130 and 17.5 jets.

I went out to work on the GS, I decided to work on wiring and during my checking of amps, resistance, etc. I unplugged the red to R/W, G/W, and put a new end on the male end and removed the striped wires from the feed wire and the fuse panel. I believe they formerly connected the alternator to the V/Reg. through the headlight switch.

That's when I noticed heat, the single red from the fuse panel was fairly hot, while following it, I discovered an unconnected red male end buried in the bundle. I made a male to double female jumper and plugged in both reds to the same fused feed wire that was hot.
Now, the voltage is higher to all of the fuses, nothing is hot, the lights even seem brighter, don't understand it, don't need to. The wiring diagram has no explanation.

What's odd is, the single red wire that was heating up is now cool with two reds plugged into it. The red that is now connected must have relieved a large amount of resistance.  I don't get it by looking at the wiring diagram, but others have been in here before me also. I cleaned up a few gnarly, twisted, taped and melted connections.
