Topic: 1989 Honda GB500

Anyone own and ride one? I’ve always admired these machines but whenever I see them (especially lately on BAT) they seem to be a bit expensive. This one came up locally, which happens rarely, and is reasonably priced. Photo is of the actual bike. Custom exhaust but original is safely boxed away and included. Bikini fairing is aftermarket bolt on…….Curious what you guys think?

Sometimes you regret what you don't buy. I had a chance years ago for one of these only in green paint and not black which I preferred. I passed on it as I thought I would not really ride it. Looking back I should have picked it up, pickled it and just kind of hid it away with the rest. Seem to be quite collectible.

Can someone tell me how this engine (twin) pulls in comparison to say a 500/550 4?
Does it have more torque?

Gentlemen…… thank you for the feedback!  I may have to go and see it. Certainly ticks off all the boxes for me. As noted by others, I’m just not sure I would use it enough to justify. I already have too many…….

I've always liked the GB500,even when it first came out;that RFVC 500 single w/ counterbalancer  and entire package is very nice and I imagine it has very good handling.
I wouldn't want it as a 'collector's bike',but would run it as a get-me-everywhere bike n' drive it all over;fit a luggage rack,etc. and that would 'run up the miles' on it and take away from the 'Collector value'       Depends on the price

GB500 has 38 hp but nimble.
CB550 has 50 hp and @ 70lbs more weight but will pull more than the GB.
John will have a chance to speak on the 2 if he gets the GB as he already has a 550/4
