Saw them when they and Black Oak Arkansas opened for Johnny Winter in the old Seattle Colosseum.

Black Oak Arkansas "Balls of Fire" -1976 one of my best vinyls (and later CD's!)
Listen to the guitar solo's! Not a bad song.

I also have a Brownsville station LP from 1977.

Amazing.  I still remember how clean Johnny played.  I could swear they also played Mean Town Blues, one of my favorites from the Johnny Winter And Live album, but the set list doesn't show it.

I saw Johnny twice at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA back in the 80’s.  His first album with Tommy Shannon on bass (SRV) is killer.  “Johnny Winter And - Live” is also stellar.  I also have some of his albums from 80’s.  I need to dig that stuff out.

Speaking of vintage..
I recently got this Heathkit AJ-10 AM/FM tuner.
These were sold as kits circa 1961.
This was built by a friend of mine's stepfather who passed away a few years ago.
It was in his workshop for years.
I opened it up for a look and it's all intact except for the missing knob but it certainly needs new caps.
I like the "Magic Eye" tubes in the front that indicate signal strength.
I haven't tried to power it up. I don't know if I'll try to get it working or just sell it as is.
Apparently there is some small demand for these old build-it-yourself Heathkit radios.

Back to Brownsville Station for a sec...they are from Ann Arbor MI. area and go back to that late 60's hard rock scene of MC5, Stooges, Bob Seger(pre Silver Bullet band), Grand Funk Railroad...yeah they only had one hit (and I am thinking it was an old standard) but they have a couple earlier solid lp's that are rare to find if you are not in Michigan.

edit; had to go Google it and apparently Smokin in the Boys Room was written by members of Brownsville Station

Hey Sean...I forgot the Motley Crew covered their song.   And yes, a lot of great music came out of Michigan, all that you posted not to mention all the Motown music.

Catching up with this thread and excited to see love for Johnny Winter, one of my favorites and my first album (Still Alive and Well), purchased after seeing him on late night TV on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.  Only saw him live once, we drove up to Austin Texas, pretty sure it was 1981.  Some guy we had not heard of named Stevie Ray Vaughan opened for Johnny and to say we were blown away would be a monstrous understatement.

I think Brownsville Station had a song called Martian Boogie that also got some radio play.

Hey Rich...I like to reminisce about concerts I went to back in the day. It's amazing how easy it is to find info. As far as your concert:

"Stevie Ray Vaughan opened for Johnny Winter at the Opry House in Austin, Texas on September 23, 1981 as part of his Early Double Trouble Tour."

That must have been amazing!

Saw them when they and Black Oak Arkansas opened for Johnny Winter in the old Seattle Colosseum.  I remember the sound was terrible for those two bands (something the Colosseum was famous for, bad echos)  and was prepared for the same when Johnny came out.  Johnny sounded decent, they had it figured out somehow.  Brownsville Station's set was very short, Black Oak's was longer but I couldn't stand Jim Dandy.  So I left until their set was over.  Holy #$%* that was a long time ago.

But Jimmy Dandy was to your rescue haha

Hey Rich... One of my regrets was not seeing SRV in concert, he was just gone too soon.  RIP Stevie...

Maybe we need a "Vintage Rock Enthusiasts" thread.  ::)

(Saw SRV several times. Was at the Austin Opry House shows that they recorded for the Live Alive album.)

There's a bit of vintage rock on the "What are you listening to tonight?" thread. ;)
Stev-o, I'm not sure I agree about 1971 being the best, but there was some good music that year. ;D

Yeah right. :D  He had that forced sounding, raspy voice that irritated me.  Same reason I couldn't stand listening to Wolfman Jack talk.  Just sounded like an affectation to me.
