I guess we'll have to wait until he writes about it in his blog now won't we.

He’s probably still there chatting! Everyone we met was keen to hear more about his travels. I’m surprised he gets to move ahead.

The CB550 was due for an oil change and it needed to be warmed up before draining the old oil. SOHC ride #23!

It was a beautiful day here, so I removed the plexi-fairing from the CB550 and headed down the road. Just meandered around here and there before stopping at WalMart to pick-up a prescription.

Had a great ride and did the oil change when I finally made it back home.  Just a bit over 60 miles.  Crops are starting to pop around here!

Ride #15, 312 miles.

I finally got my 300+ miler in.  Summer is moving in quick.  Today's high was 96.  It didn't feel that hot, but maybe because I was moving most of the time.  I was up early, cleaning the bike up some from Tuesday's ride, and making sure it was ready for the long ride ahead, which didn't require anything except for a little air in the tires.  I left the house about 9:45 when it was probably in the mid 70's.  Felt great.   Destination:  The Three Sisters (Ranch Roads 335. 336 & 337).

First stop was Kerrville, then I continued south on Hwy 16 over the twisty hill to Medina, where I got on 337 heading west to Leakey.  I tanked up in Leakey right at 100 miles.  I was thinking about grabbing some lunch while I was in Leakey, but I wasn't hungry yet.  I headed north on 336, then west on 41 for 12 miles to the northwest corner of the sister.  There's a tree there that become iconic.  People leave rock in the pile with their names and hang stuff from the tree, etc.   I always stop there and take a pic of myself in front of the 355 sign across the road, but today the sign was gone!  I bet someone stole it.  I continued south on 335 to Camp Wood then east on 337.  I stopped at the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop, just west of Leakey, and grabbed a bacon-cheeseburger at their Bent Rim Grill.  It was good, but not as good as the burger I had at the Castell General Store a few weeks ago.  It was about 2:00 when I got there.  It's a very popular place for riders of all types.  There was a good number of riders out today.  I've seen a lot more at times, but still lots of riders.  Lots of sports bikes today.

I didn't stick around long after I ate.  I had a long ride home.  I filled up in Leakey again at the same station (97 miles around the Sisters) and headed out.  I was starting to get fatigued about halfway home.  My last stop was in Harper for another tank of go-juice.  I was glad to step out of the saddle for a few minutes.  The bugs had been pretty mild the whole day, but they seems to be getting thicker in the heat of the afternoon as I was getting closer to home, adding to the fatigue.  It was all good though.  Made it home safe and sound.  I uploaded my photos, retraced my route and took a nap!

If you're ever considering a ride to Texas the Three Sisters is a must.

#40 yesterday started with a 100 mile ride for ice cream on the blue bike, would never do that in a car!
Then a 40 mile ride on the red 750 that is giving me grief. Feels like a slipping clutch but I changed that and problem still there. Might be in the points as it is starting to miss and run rough above 4000. Will require more rides to figure out!

Ride #6 yesterday was a boring 140 miles of mostly slab roads into Massachusetts for Jap Bike Mike's Swapmeet. I started off at 54°F in misty conditions, not wet enough to put on the rain gear and stayed dry as I was on the goldwing. It was a light crowd of vendors and buyers because of the dampness and I scored a few 750 parts.
No pictures taken though..... it did warm up to 62° for a high on the way back with the clouds trying to thin but never saw the sun through the clouds. This week we will be in full on summer here with temps close to 90 on Wednesday for bike night so the 750 will be out then.

Saturday may 18th, #14, 126 miles.

This old Interurban bridge was another thing I just happened across one day on the way to a friends house, another "WTF is THAT" moment LOL. 1982 or so the end where it could be accessed was more "country" than today.

One could ride over a pile of dirt across the path which I easily did on the Honda CL175 I was riding those days, then ride a trail to where they had a fence to deter access. 17 year me noticed he could just step around :-)...This fallen down section those braided steel cables were still attached so one could hold onto them and get past that section that had fallen down, and I did so. It had/has a really cool post apocalyptic feel to it.

Of course back then there was no plaque explaining anything about it. This bridge was part of a fairly short lived interurban railroad system that used electric powered trains. This bridge according to locals was also used for a short time for car traffic when another bridge was out. They tried to auction it off and had a bidder who could not get any insurance company to cover it. Then after some digging in dusty files the state of Ohio decided that THEY own it. They plan to blow it up one day in the near future.

Spotted the Silverwing on the way in, talked to the guy a bit as I was leaving. He had all kinds of interesting stuff to share about making the side car "work" on the bike.

Sunday may 19th 201 miles. One of the el cheapo import tool stores had a cool "deal of the day" on an LED flash light. I planned to hit TWO stores, one in Van Wert, OH and one in Defiance, OH. After refusing to share a phone number worked at those two stores I hit the one in Fort Wayne and swung back through Auburn, IN  for store number 4 for a nice day cruising.

This was #15.

#6. Rode to Bridgenorth to “see a guy” and accidentally bought a bike. Honda CRF230. Filthy, seems complete, not stuck. “Ran when parked”! About US$500.

Nice score! The grandkids will love it if they can get it away from you.

We're almost ready to try and start the 78' KL 250. We gave it a few kicks last weekend but didn't have enough time to give it a genuine try. No sputters at all so I'll go through the points and make sure everything is good to go. It has a ton of compression so I think I will recruit a big guy with a beer and burgers bribe to be the electric starter since it's kick start only. 8)

After seeing everyone else’s pics on their ride’s I’ve come to the conclusion that I live in a very boring spot! I will make up for that in August/September when we go to Newfoundland. Planning on riding the northeast coast mostly.
Anyway, ride #41 at 95 miles today on my blue 750 and the wife on her Ryker.

Today I managed to get in ride #4 of 62 miles the long way over to Arlington to buy license tabs for the 93' F250. I took the 77' KZ 1000LTD which is quickly becoming my favorite bike. It's the best sounding bike we have. With the RS34's it starts instantly when stone cold and pulls hard from idle to redline with no hesitation. It always draws attention when I take it to any motorcycle gathering. It's just a survivor not restored with plenty of "patina". My uncle bought it in 78". At one point he sold it to his brother and later bought it back. Now I have gone through all the systems and put it back on the road. The engine is stock with 34k miles on it and runs great. Eventually it will go to my son.

Kelly…. I just love that Z1000 engine. I’ve posted this in the past, but worth repeating. Restored this one a few years ago, for the guy that bought it new. It had been parked for +30 years. When I finally got to ride it, I was truly impressed! Fantastic bike!

I agree, even today the KZ 1000 is a great motor. So is the Suzuki GS 1100E motor and it handles better but there's just something about the KZ.

Took a ride over to Defiance, OH. #16, 76 miles.
Lunch was some grocery store fried chicken breasts :-). Hands down they have the best fried chicken anywhere around here.

Bill, do we want to know what that first picture is about?

Other than that you are doing good knocking off rides, keep it up.

Yea I did not have far to go, squeaked through a yellow light turning red right in front of a cop...but he must have had other priorities because I escaped unscathed ;-).

Changed the brake fluid, serviced the caliper and pads, greased the swing arm, oiled the chain and went out for the first time this year on the silver bike, 135 miles for #42.
