Monday July 1st I tried something I haven't done for about 2 years...................I went to work! A friend of my ex-boss has a job in Laguna Beach that he needed some help with 2 sets of stairs for a hillside multi level deck, and since figuring stairs was one of my specialties, I said what the heck. The cool part was all he needs to do is figure out to build them and help with the bones, I needed very few tools and was able to ride the bike!. That got me Ride #25.
It's around 60 miles to Laguna from my house and great weather AND a nice ride so I loaded Eeyore down with the few items I needed and hit the road around 6:30. ( taking the long way both directions, of course) . It was supposed to be freaking hot in corona and only about 75°f/24°c i Laguna Beach and I was getting PAID made it a no brainer.
I didn't take many pictures, but it was great. The guy I was helping has stage 4 skin cancer and is a good dude so I felt good helping him out, especially since he had been screwed by someone else before he called me.
The ride started about 6:30 in the morning which is rare for me to start a ride at that hour, and it was already around 65°f/18 °c at home and predicted to be around 91°f/33°c with 75% humidity, buh bye Corona! I did the math and helped him figure what material the other guy f'd up. Hit up Jack in the Box for lunch at Brooks Street where the old "greeter of Laguna" used to stand an the corner and wave at everybody traveling PCH back in the 60's and 70's. They made a statue to honor him and placed it on the corner where he would " greet", pretty cool.
Anyhool finished for the day and headed back over the Ortega Hwy and off to home. The temps got pretty warm as I dropped back down into Elsinore and on to the house. It was a good day and I will repeat it on Wednesday to finish the job. It was a bit weird being a commuter, but I'll take it.
