Today like Kelley, there were 4 of us, that got together along the route to go to the AMCA 70th annual Bike Show and Swapmeet in Greenfield Massachusetts, @ 80 miles away via some really beautiful roads through woods, along rivers and through some old still working dairy and beef farms, and because we were all on bikes older than 35 years old we had free entrance. Dave had his 1974 CB450K7, my 75 CB750K5, Brad with his 1976 CB750F1 and Gregg had his 1978 CB550K.
The route from southern NH was Milford NH west of back roads to NH 31S, west on 119 riding in and out of Mass and NH to 10S to Gill Rd that follows the Connecticut River through the farmlands to Greenfield.
We wandered around looking through the Swapmeet vendors, most of which were selling vintage Indian and Harley as well as vintage Triumph and Norton parts.
About the 3rd space I stopped by, I spotted on the ground by a table, were 2 sets of CB750 roundtops so I said to my friend Brad(on the 76 750F1) hey lookie here! They were very dirty and I couldn't make out the numbers so I asked the guy if he had a rag, he came back with a paper towel which worked to clean the numbers to read them, 1 was for a K1(7A) and the other a K2/K3?(657B). The guy had all Harley stuff and he gave me an arm twisting to take them! (I wasn't going to spend any money as I had just bought 3 sets of engine guards on ebay yesterday $460 total) but I put down his asking price in his hand. He also had 4 aftermarket tappet caps. That was the only 750 parts I saw today.
I met a few interesting people there to while away the day, Panhead Bill who has ridden his 48 Pan to 49 states over the multitude of years but is now hauling it in his square body Chevy pickup because of hip problems.
My hometown friend Pastor Larry was there with a his 3 Indians, 1 is a 31 Scout 101 and he hauled my carbs back for me in his SUV. He told me later Wayne Carini spent 2 hrs talking with him about the 101.
The awards were passed out @2:30, the 750F1 got an award in our crew. Wayne Carini (of Chasing Classic Cars) was the Emmce so all the awardees got their pictures taken with him.
As we were gearing up to head out, the National president of AMCA stopped by to say he and Wayne had seen us ride in together and they were impressed by our bikes parading in together.
We all had a blast of a day. Perfect weather and perfect roads and a hoot of a Show/Swapmeet. We were blessed indeed. We had so much fun riding we didn't get any pictures along the way down and the 450 developed a leaking petcock(Common Motor aftermarket)on the way back we didn't stop for pictures.
Today's ride #14 total on the 750 was 160 miles plus another 20 miles on the wing tonight to go see the Kerker 4into1 system I bought last Saturday for my friend for his F2 that he put on, so 180 miles total today on the 2 bikes.
Started off at 7:30 leaving this morning at 60°F, midday was a warm 87°F with a light breeze and low humidity, got back to my place to get the wing @6:00 81°F.
I didn't get food pictures of the wonderful grilled BLT sammich at thecshow as I was talking to a guy from NJ and I was hungry 😕 from the long wait, that sammich turned my stomach to 🙂 happy place that ended up worth the wait.
