Your K0 looks better and better, Terry!
The 4-4 must add the typical CB750 sound.
I like the red color. Rather deep candy despite the age. Matching colors on the tank, side covers and headlight ears too.

I'm waiting for a ride. Frosty early morning with  -3*C,  now whopping +4*C!! ;)
One of my weather apps promise 10*C  within a few hours.
That is what I can get.

The alternative is to wait around 7 months :( :(

Thanks Per, it’s running really well with the needles lowered a notch. I can’t get over how loud the pipes are, louder than the Delkevic 4 into 1! I’m starting to wonder if it’s a “Lotus Root” system? I haven’t removed the end baffles so can’t tell, but it’s louder than any OEM 4 piper, including the original pipes I had on my first K0. Not annoying, just surprising. I better finish fixing the wife’s car so I can go for a ride!

Well done Lash, 100 rides must be a record for this thread (Kevin will know) I’ll be lucky if I get another 20 this year, I’m so looking forward to retirement! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yes Terry, good to see you back with a shiny red K0 adorned with Buds handiwork to boot.
That same key ring was on John DeMarias Sandcast when it took best in show.
I have my red 24 and my black 23 flying in the breeze when I go down the road. There’s a bit of noise that covers the valve train but I like to think it keeps the deer away as well.
…. And maybe, just maybe, Frank can catch some wind in his face.

I have PM’ed with jgger, he’s doing fine through the fires and working hard near the Pacific shore.

Bud, you are going to get your 500 miler, and that will be a big day, do you have an Iron Butt dream?

Lash, I have made you a decent collage, there’s a couple iterations, and it’s a work in progress. I might have to change it again if you hit 120. And I missed your nicest photo of your Wing on the pier.

And just for fun I put 9 finishers together in a conglomeration.

I think Bud, at 69+ rides earned a Triple Crown last year and IIRC that was the highest count for all years.
For myself, I will make a personal best before the year closes out, it’s nothing like what many of you have done.

Thanks Kevin, I love those collages, fantastic work and I’m glad that the K0 made it into the pics, I am really happy that it’s back on the road again and behaving itself. I’d love to see a “24 rides” calendar or coffee table book with all the great pictures that everyone has posted. Probably won’t make it into the best seller list, but I still want one. ;D

Terry, your 4-4 has diffusers like this?
HM300 style my Yamiya No Numbers have.
My K2 runs without the "wool"

Lotus Root has a different inner design with not much junk inside ;)
Diffusers, No Numbers without wool vs Lotus Root.

I drilled a circle of ca: 5mm holes in the bottom flat area (Lotus Root) for less restrictions after photo was taken

Lots of bare metal, design for rust.

Ride #46, 84 miles.

Had to run to the Post Office today.  No reason to not be on two wheels.  It was a beautiful morning.  Stopped at one of my favorite picnic tables for a bit.

Probably going to make another PO run again tomorrow.

Planning a 400+ mile ride for Saturday.

Terry, that's a beautiful K0.  The signage on those old buildings reminds me of the old Vincent logo.

Rode out today to price snow tires for the wife’s car and then, being such a nice day, went to Wingham for an ice cream! 147 mi. For #101.

I'm back! I feel a bit guilty for not doing any rides in over a month, but the weather's been horrible, and Spotty and I have been busy fixing my various bikes so I can do more riding, and less wrenching, once the weather warms up. I've just been looking at the previous pages to bring me up to date, some great rides guys, and some great pics!

On my last post about my last ride, on the white BMW, I said that I hoped that my next ride (#27) would be on a Honda. I'm happy to report that yesterday, I did. Spotty and I had to trailer the K0 over to his place (and surprisingly, after 2 years it started right up and we both took it for a ride around the block before we started to pull the engine out to fix a leak from the slightly warped cam cover, and the alternator and gear change cover, using the age old "Sandpaper on glass" method. as an added insurance, I put a thin smear of Permatex sealant on each of them before reassembly. We installed a new filter and then discovered that the sump plug hole was stripped, so we stopped work for the weekend and I had to find another sump pan that wasn't fcuked during the week, was happy to find a good one in my tubs of parts. We installed it, filled it with oil and bolted more parts on, and were happy that when we started on it again the following weekend, there was no pool of oil underneath it. Yay!

Many months ago I bought a set of new Yamiya pipes from a mate here in Oz, so we installed them, along with a set of OEM rear shocks (black tops) to replace the Ebay copies I'd put on it during the build in 2020. OK, so after several Saturdays, we finally got to start it, and I'd love to say that it fired up right away, but I'd be lying. It popped a few times, but nothing. OK, I remember that I'd installed a "Chyna" (Chinese Dyna S ripoff) when the bike had started running on 2 cylinders on my last ride in December 2022 when I thought that the Tokico I'd originally installed had somehow failed. It made no difference, so I parked the K0, and forgot about it. Instead of having a blue and yellow signal wire, the "Chyna" has just black and white wires, so I swapped them around, and it started right up, but idled at around 5000 RPM! Fark!

Another week went by and this time we checked the carbs and discovered that the slide on #3 was stuck at the top of the carb. We re-routed the cables and made sure the slides were in correctly, and then fired it up again, and this time it started, but was missing and farting, and #3 pipe was as cold as ice. We checked plugs for spark, we swapped plug leads to see if there was any difference, but still there was nothing. We did a very crude compression test (finger on, or near the plug hole) and it had compression, so we dropped the float bowl and found the main jet, and holder, laying in the bowl. Well that'll do it......... We popped the other bowls off, and the main jets were all loose, so we tightened them up. This time, we were rewarded with it running on all 4 cylinders, yay! I rode it over to the storage facility with Spotty following me in his car just in case, and I had a lovely ride.

Yesterday, I did some work on the wife's old Hyundai to use as a spare car, as today I have to change the cam belt in her other Hyundai. Once finished, my oldest sister called me "just fo a quick chat" that went for over an hour. I hadn't had breakfast, it was almost 1 pm, so I made a grilled croissant with provolone cheese. Delicious.

K0 Saturday 28 September 2024 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

Eventually I terminated the phone call, jumped in my truck and rode over to the storage facility. I took my multimeter with me, because I'd meant to double check the charging system, and had forgotten, after Spotty and I compared multimeters and discovered that both of his were crap, including his new digital one. I fired the bike up, and was happy to see 14 volts @ 3000 RPM. Excellent. I rolled it out into the sunshine, and the first thing I noticed was this. Thanks again, Bud and Kevin, it's even the right colour!

K0 Saturday 28 September 2024 1 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I'd only just rolled it out when a young guy in his thirties came over for a chat, loved the bike and told me he had a couple of bikes. I fired it up again and rode to the nearest gas station and filled it up with 98 RON fuel. I took off again, and did a similar ride to last time. I stopped for a cigarette at the same spot as on my last ride, I'd done around 50 miles and found most of the potholes, so it was nice to give my back a rest for a few minutes. Of course, I had to take some pics.

K0 Saturday 28 September 2024 6 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

Yesterday was a big day for football fans, the AFL Grand Final was on, so the roads were pretty quiet. I only saw one cop car, but as I entered the  Freeway for the last 10 miles or so back to the storage facility, I noticed that there was a big car crash (at least 3 cars involved) and there were cops, ambulances and fire trucks in attendance. There were miles of cars trapped behind the incident as all 4 lanes were blocked, and as it is the main road to the airport, I wondered how many folks would be missing their flights? Anyhoo, I arrived back at the storage facility safely and was overjoyed to see that there were no obvious oil leaks! There was a tiny bit of oil mist on the #1 carb floatbowl and airbox/sidecover, but it wasn't even really wet, and I just wiped it off with a tissue. Happy days! I even remembered to remove the 8 year old black Motobatt battery from the Triumph, to bring home and charge, to see if I can get anymore life out of it.

K0 Saturday 28 September 2024 7 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

Anyway, I better go out and start on the wife's car, if it's a nice day tomorrow and I've finished the car, I might have to go do ride #28, and you can guess what I'll be riding! ;D

Thanks for the montages! I am working on 120, might have to do the last ones in the snow on the KLR though but we will see. The weather has been so nice this week that is not hard to go out every day. Making up for the month I lost in June because of the ribs..

Anyway, I better go out and start on the wife's car, if it's a nice day tomorrow and I've finished the car, I might have to go do ride #28, and you can guess what I'll be riding! ;D

Very Nice write-up Terry.
I know you must be pleased to get your K0 back on the road again  ;)

Thanks Bill, and I feel a bit guilty that it took so long to discover the ridiculously simple reason why it wasn't running well early last year, but I'm glad that the majority of the oil leaks have gone away now and it does look nice with the new Yamiya pipes. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Ride #47, 61 miles.

Just another Post Office run and a stop at the city park.  The butterflies are creeping north.  Definitely many more than there were yesterday.  It was a short ride so cleanup will be easy.

Rained yesterday so no riding. Bikes get dirty on the gravel road and I’m lazy when it comes to cleaning. Today I rode to the John Deere dealer for a wheel on my mower deck, ONLY $98 dollars for a plastic wheel! Anyway, 78 mi. For #102

Ride #29   91 miles     Home - Chelsea - Home

A lunch run to Chelsea today to Mikes Deli for a #3 Sydney’s Sub, ham turkey pepperoni provolone Italian dressing. I’m sorry, I could not resist a bite before I took the photo. Very good. I also got a photo of the mural, no bike pix today.
A gorgeous sunny day, it was 47f at sunrise and I ran the furnace a bit for the second time this fall to cut the chill inside, but furnace off mid morning, mid 60s outside at my departure, perfect low 70s for the ride back home. Sweet corn is gone, pumpkins are in. I was posing my CB in front of the Dexter Mill for a photo, but a driver pulled in right next to me, I’ll get the photo next time. Fall colors not in yet, it’s cooling down but far from frost.
The CB was a little bit reluctant to start in the cool and with the nearly two week delay since last start. I was a mile+ away from home when I shut the choke off. The Honda was well behaved otherwise.
29 rides is an all time high for me in the five years of Franks Challenge. I’m calling this “the lash effect”.

I have attached a photo from 2022 of the former Pontiac dealer just to the left of Mikes, also shown in the mural.

Goldwing day! Rode up to the Beaver Valley just south of Lake Huron for the fall colours but it is still too early, so maybe a week or two for that. 264 km for #103.

10-4-2024, #72, 72 miles :-).

Took the CB750K2 for a spin. One thing that I remember as a kid riding on the back of this bike was when we would stop at A&W for rootbeer floats. This building here was that A&W. A&W vanished back in the late 80's early 90's, they did resurface bundled together with KFC or other food places.

Stopped and got a turkey sandwich on the way home and some Coleslaw to go with it :-).

I think I see a recurring theme here Willbird, 72,72
Very good, congratulations on your 72nd ride this year.
That’s some lofty territory that you have achieved.

Willbird, there are still stand alone A&W here but not that many I don’t think. I miss the Chubby Chicken!
Today was beer delivery day. There is a brewery in Newfoundland that captures ice from the icebergs that pass by every year and make beer with it. Sold only in Newfoundland but the guys at my Honda dealership like it so I bring it back for them each trip. 119 km for #104
