Those heated gloves look good Greg, I bought some cheapies and a heated vest on Amazon and they were fantastic. I'm not sure how they'd fare if I went sliding down the road, but I try to avoid sliding down the road as I don't heal as fast as I used to, for some reason?

These gloves are made by Fieldsheer.  The box doesn't say anything about motorcycle use.  No armor, but they do have plenty of padding across the knuckles and palms, so probably would provide a fair amount of protection and retention is decent as well.  I'm with you on trying to avoid slides down the road these days.

Are those gloves Motorcycle powered or internal battery powered?

Each glove has its own lithium battery in a zippered pouch.

#20.  Tried out the above mentioned gloves again on another cool day.  39 degrees when I left the house at 2:30 and 35 when I got back 3 hours later.  I think it was colder out on the road as there was frost on the roads in the shade and puddles were frozen.  By the end I was feeling the cold seeping through my fingers even on high.  I think they would be fine on a faired bike.  I have some hippo hands that I used in Alaska stashed somewhere.  They would work well inside those.

Pump Road is so steep they don't bother trying to keep it open in the winter.

Thanks.  The weather forecast says dry for the next week, but it will get colder as the inversion sets up.  But we will be working on my son's Corvette the next two days, and I have jury duty starting Monday.  Maybe more rides next week if I don't get stuck on the trial of the century.

How are the repairs coming? Power that corvettes have can do some serious damage as you have shown when things aren't assembled correctly and things get loose. Glad you guys have the equipment and skills to set things right.

Pretty good, David.  We had been waiting on transmission parts, plus I've been gone off and on, and he has been busy.  We will be hitting it hard now, because his car is occupying the lift and I have some projects I need it for.  The lift has so spoiled me I won't even consider laying under a car anymore. ;D

I need a lift and an extra garage for it. My next car must be a car I can change oil without a lift.
Plastic covers under the entire engine bay - gearbox to remove.
Low sitting car with "sport chassie" was fun until winter with lots of snow arrived.
Fun the first winters with permanent 4WD until the plastic covers underneath cracked on roads with bad snow removal.

A Toyota 4Runner 2025  or similar would be perfect without seeing one in the reality.

Hey Bud, how are you feeling lately? Still feeling like you got rolled and mugged by that deer?
Hopefully not.

You ever make it to Cooper's Old Time BBQ up in Llano?
I hear it is good.

Per….. I agree! Last time I changed the oil on the Volvo C30 (remove plastic under tray), I noticed the hard pipe that delivers oil to the turbo had a small leak. I could just see it, up the back of the engine……. Took it to a local shop. Much cheaper than buying a lift!

Much better.  Thanks for asking.  My neck and collar bone still ache a little, but not nearly as bad.  Been using sports tape on the collar bone and it helps.  The bruises are fading.  I've cut way back on the over-the-counter pain meds.

Got an offer from the insurance co., but they missed a few things.  Trying to get them straightened out.

Been thinking about a new motorcycle a lot.  Probably too much.  I probably should give myself some time.

I haven't been to Cooper's in Llano in a while.  Last couple of times the meat was way too salty.  Not enjoyable.  My son was here last week for TG and we went to the original Cooper's in Mason, but all they had left was brisket.  I like to get at least two meats, so we drove to Inman's BBQ in Llano instead.  I prefer Inman's over Cooper's.  One of the things I don't like about Cooper's is they sell the meat by the pound, and they always cut off more than you ask for and make you pay for it.  Some people like the experience of watching the pit master cut the meat for them, but I don't care.  Just give me some meat.  I'm not looking for an overpriced salty show.

There are a couple of good BBQ places in Fredericksburg that I've had.  I don't eat out much.  Most of the BBQ I eat I smoke myself.

Bud, glad you are feeling some better and have figured out some things to help.

Yeah, cooking/smoking your own BBQ is way more economical and fulfilling than going out. 8 went through El Paso and filled up at Costco and did a search for a good BBQ place nearby and found this collection of food trucks and a hattery of all things not far away so I drove over and got some of the best brisket I had had in ages...mouthwatering with bit of heat and savory spices. Damn it was good. If they had been open when I rolled back through on my way home I would have went again. They were only there Thursday through Sunday. Was cool sitting eating and watching the people in the long line at the battery steaming hats to fit and brims to the customer's desire. With numerous hat bands available of course! Art in action.

Well, if motorcycle dealers in Texas see less sales during winter like most of US you might be able to find a better deal between now and mid February. January I bet is really slow...

Costco sells really good quality meat, it is a bit more but way better quality I find, I grill but don't smoke or BBQ like most these days are getting into...

12-8-2024, 77 miles, #90. Rode over to Defiance, OH, took 66 North to US20, then west to Jim Town, then South to home plate. There is not a whole much left of Jim Town these days, was not able to find any local history avail about it yet. Few years back somebody from MI was into robbing banks, they made the mistake of parking right outside a bank mgr window so they had a vehicle description and cops sitting in places like Jim Town for the robber to strike again, he went by here, they followed him into MI and then waited for the MI LEO to arrest him. The nice looking building in the picture was in lots worse shape then and all kinds junk was parked and stacked up around it, made a good hiding place then :-).

That sounds good! ;)
4-5 months to heal physically and mentally for a possible next riding season ;)
Even a car will have problems when hit by a deer.

A nice sportier convertible for the similar feeling can get the animal inside when it jumps. No helmet then.

A deer whistle?
Might be something for us bikers.

I was close a fullgrown moose blocking the road about 2 months ago. I drove my car, one of my favourite riding roads.

Just as a fat brown-grey shadow in a dark place of the road with forest on each side  just after sunset. I could stop in time. Slow speed on the curvy dark road, 80kmh (50mph).
It did not bother when I flashed the headlights. I stopped 10 meters from it. It was still standing there
Reacted on my horn and jumped into the forest.

Good News. Thought of you yesterday when a large buck stepped across the road, in front of my wife’s car (well ahead). Riding is done here as of the past few days. Lots of snow followed by freezing rain and thick ice. Sand and salt being spread everywhere. Our new heat pump is working well, heat is on in the shop. Winter is here.

Ever since we installed the furnace in the shop the blast of warm air in the face when I walk in makes me smile. I had my first shop for ten years and only had heat for the last year. After we moved it took me a couple years to scrounge up the materials to hook up the furnace in the current shop. My right hand hurts really bad when it gets cold, like it's thawing out. Now it's always 68° in the shop in the winter. Maybe it's time to start scrounging the parts for some AC in the summer. 8)

It’s been pretty quiet around here lately. 15f this morning and snow on the ground now, although I did see a GoldWing rider out maybe 2 days back.
I have made another picture collection from this years photos. If you have showed your face in this thread, you’re here and named. If you have posted a ride and a photo, if you have completed 24, you’re here. Nice work Kevin! Last night we were in Toronto for a show (Panto) with the entire Family. Coming out on the Don Valley Parkway there was a guy riding a Honda CBR125! One degree above freezing and he was NOT particularly well dressed. I could only hope he didn’t have far to go!! Stay warm, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. J.

#21.  A strong inversion in the valley for the last 2 weeks led to dense fog and temps in the 20s.  So frost and black ice on the roads kept me off the bike.  It moderated a bit today.  It was above freezing by 1PM and at 35F went I left the house after 3 for a round trip down to Swan Falls.  It was a good test for the electric gloves.  A gray and brown day out in the desert.

The frost had melted around the house, but I noticed as I got south of Kuna the frost was still on the brush.  Temps in the mid 20s by that point.  Even cruising at 60, the engine didn't gain much heat. I could comfortably hold my bare hand on the rocker cover.  I have to admit I missed the Windjammer today.

Swan Falls canyon on the Snake River -

This shoe tree south of Kuna is next to a field that burned last summer and lost a bunch of shoes.  I see people have begun to replenish it again.
