O rings and dimensions
« on: January 03, 2024, 08:59:45 PM »
When Honda specifies or describes an O ring, for example 11 x 3, What dimensions of the ring are described? Is it the inner diameter, outer diameter or thickness? There seem to be different applications of these dimensions between those in cars and those used in motorcycles

Is that the dimension standard Honda uses? Just bought some "11 x 3" o rings where the 11 was the od. Obviously the standard is not universal

Honda always used id and thickness, some suppliers i have come accross use od but that is not the standard way and should be stated by supplier

I’ve ran into that with the metric sizes too..

It maybe an across both ponds metic oring standard..Honda’s are as Bryan says..

You can google the “oring size chart” and get all the dimensions and what’s  over on this side of the ponds..

Don’t get too hard of ones…hard ones need high pressure to deform them enough to seal…I would follow gland or static oring seal standards.. 60-80psi isn’t much considering what their normal working pressure can be in other applications.
