Winter Cleanup 79 CB650
« on: January 16, 2024, 10:38:50 AM »
Figured i'd cleanup one of my bikes.  Going well, nearly complete.  I had all the exterior aluminum parts vapor honed; many CB650 engine reference images for folks.

Great photo set! Your shop looks very complete and comfortable. Did you paint the engine or leave it “clean”. Very nice work.

That's nice work
Sure is a ton of work when the bike is taken down to every nut and bolt
I'm doing a 1978 CB750F2 right now and I know how long it takes and what hour's that you have to put in to the
bike project like this
Nice pictures
I have to figure out how to do that some time when I'm done the CB750F

thanks guys!

that engine i had someone vapor hone all the aluminum parts.

rebuilding something clean with new parts is certainly exciting and rewarding.  no dirt or rust!!!

Hansels 1978 project would be super fun!  yes many hours, i do this stuff at nights to get away from everything else.

vapor honing leaves very tiny sand particles so i had to run thread chases in EVERY hole then blow them out with air.

this bike motor i had vapor honed,  the build before this i powder coated everything...except the headers (link below),  i did some testing with the power coat, seamed to handle 500 deg F multiple cycles.  think the engine should never hit 500 deg F.

that triangle bag i had made will have to be modified, it will hit the chain path currently.

Nice job on the 650. Is that a Hindle exhaust on it?
