Honda CRF50
« on: January 20, 2024, 07:58:26 PM »
I haven't bought any type of Honda in quite a few years but I brought this nice little 2019 CRF50 home with me today. I grew up riding Honda's, my two boys did and I want my 5 year old grandson to also.

The little CRF50 is certainly a step-up from the original Z50 Mini-Trail bikes we all had when younger;it's got Suspension !  ;D

A guy not far from me had bought this new for his son in 2019 and he had not rode it a whole lot. When I went to pick it up Saturday it was 23 degrees and it started up on the first kick and idled great. I was surprised by this, ok a little shocked when I saw on the vin plate that it was made in China. Yeah that's right China. Seems like for some years now Honda has been making a lot of its smaller displacement bikes there :-\

I had one of those for awhile to play on and let my wife's grandkids ride a little. Had an automatic tranny. Was having some cocktails one day at the shop playing on it and was getting some second gear wheelies till I wiped out wearing shorts.  :D Actually got banged up a little. My 6'3" frame was not a good fit !!  Nice little starter bike for a 5 year old.

My grandson graduated to the CRF50 soon after this photo. He’s now on a Suzuki RM80, and learning to control a beast! The CRF50 is the perfect ride for beginners. Great choice!

My son and grandson keep all there stuff here at the farm. Chris just sold his Honda CR250 (?). It was the last of the two strokes. I’m sure there will be something else here by Spring!

I've still got my 1981 Yammie YZ250 that I bought back in 1985. Been ported a little and was a real wheel spinning wheelie machine. Last year of the air cooled. At one time we had many many places to ride close to Kalamazoo, not so much unfortunately nowadays. Just don't have the heart to sell it and I know its just waiting for me to ride it again so it can throw me down hard like the 'good old days'.   ;D

Jack is now on a Suzuki RM80 and I can’t believe the power of these little 2-strokes!
