Topic: Who's got the best tires

I want to put new sneakers on the old girl before she runs this spring. She's currently wearing some new Shinkos the PO put on.

There are a lot of nice tires out there. Obviously fitment is important but this site has given me all the info I need in that regard.

Where I live in NY the roads are half-decent, half-potholed, and where my friends live up in the lakes the roads can get pretty pip-gravelly. Should I be running street tires or like a dual sport tire? Any particular brand recommendations? I've been eyeing up some Avons and some Bridgestones.

What do you guys all run? Liven up my rainy workday with a tire argument

I use my K3 on the dirt and gravel roads around our farm. Mounted these Kendas a few years ago (and ran them on my Kawasaki KLR650 too) because they came in the right sizes for the wheels. They work well on pavement too.

Back in the 70s I ran Continental tires for good handling and wear.
These days I still want good handling and have gone to the Bridgestone BT46. While it's a rider, I don't think gotta have the 70s look.....or dirt tires. I still ride in the dirt back roads and woods roads with good street tires.

What size/ aspect do you run on the front?

What's the stock aspect ratio for the bike? The stock fender I have doesn't fit over my 90 aspect ratio tires, although Im not convinced the bracket wasnt modified

What size 90??? You need complete size not just 90.

Are you having a problem with the 100/90-19? Or are you trying a larger tire like 110-120/90-19?
Stock size is 3.25-19 which compares to the 100/90-19

I have a set of Dunlop K70s on my K5. I ride a good part of the time on gravel forest service roads. They have nice grip. The pavement ride is also smooth. Probably not the best you could get, but I think strike a nice balance on price/performance. They also have the old look if that's your thing.

Another inch? That sounds like a lot more than is needed.  I'd advise to determine what exact sizes you need and then see what is available in those sizes.

I run Avon, Bridgestone, Continental and IRC on my bikes, all good tires. I wont buy Chinese tires for my Japanese bikes.
