Oil doesn't burn black like fuel. ;)
Oil-soaked plugs certainly can be black. As I said, it might be a condition. I did not say it was.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

What about the obvious??

What does the smoke “coming out of all 4 pipes even after shutting it off” smell like..?

Does it smell like oil burning ? Or the smell of an engine trying to run on full choke ?

Do you have any automotive engine experience?

It sounds to me as if the new rings have not properly seated yet. Co worker had a small block chevy that had a bad fuel pump, it was leaking fuel into his oil, this prevented the rings in the newly rebuilt engine from ever seating. He ended up fixing the fuel pump issue then had to tear it down, re cross hatch the cyl, and use new rings.

Or perhaps one of the rings is installed upside down ??

black and wet. my interpretation of that is too rich, right?
Not necessarily. Could easily be oil-fouled. Any chance you could perform a leak down test? Do you mind providing specifics of what head work was done? Valve seals, guides, valve seats re-cut?

Hi calj737!
I've done following head work
- new valve seals
- nothing on the guides
- seats were lapped (by hand)
Once the work was done I turned the head over and filled the valve area with soapy water. Applied pressured air in to the exhaust and inlets.
all tight there, no bubbles

Plug wires screwed into caps properly? 1-4 and 2-3 wires to right coils? Fuel line blocked or kinked?
I’ve seen these simple fixes solve big problems in the past. Fast and easy checks.

Thanks Tom!
I was thinking onto that direction as wwell already. Iwill double check if the coils (yellow and blue wire) are hooked up right.
I can already rule out plug wires and fuel line

I am not too ashamed to admit that I did not know at first that the wires screwed in.
