1975 400/4 Crankshaft Bearings
« on: January 15, 2024, 09:53:12 AM »
Question about main journal bearing choice. Is it a problem to use different color bearings across the 5 journals? As best I can measure it I need a mix of green and brown (the only colors I can find). I am going to plastiguage them to check they are all in spec.
Thanks

Not a problem, just use what you need.
Get a good machinist to accurately measure the main bearing pin sizes and use those

That's exactly what happens, the last two bottom ends I replaced mains in had 3 greens and 2 browns. Do a double check with plastigauge once they're installed and confirm your clearance's. Then you're good to go..

Thanks. I also ended up with 3 green and 2 brown. I plastigauged them and with all came out at 0.038, which should mean it's good to go.
