Points look square and new…… I wonder if it just got a “bench test”. The story is it was sent to a dealer as a warranty replacement and never installed. I will pull the cam cover at one point and see what the cam and rockers look like.

Any other suggestions?

Honestly don’t know. Could be. Will have a look and see what the cam/rocker wear looks like. Maybe pull the pan too?

Where as the motor has stamped vin, I would suspect it was a warranty take out for some reason and would probably want to tear it open to do a close inspection on it. It could be on the power side or the out put of the transmission.

New CB750 K6 Anteres Red, to replace the totaled K5, I sold this K6 at 45k in 1983, I had heavily modified it, many great memories on it and have missed it greatly.....

I wonder if you contacted Honda warranty claims if they could do a search on the vin to see what was the reason for it being replaced.

Understood. 1976....pre computer and no input to the computer programs. Hard copy files only and most were deep sixed long ago even if the dealer is still in business.

+1...def does not look like a "new" motor.    Do you happen to have [or can borrow] one of those borescopes to look inside?

+1...def does not look like a "new" motor.    Do you happen to have [or can borrow] one of those borescopes to look inside?

I have an old one that may work. I think the cam and rocker gear might tell a story too? No use for it, bought on a whim!

I thought about putting it in a golf cart. The challenge would be reverse gear and adequate cooling……
