Newb from New Orleans
« on: February 27, 2024, 08:22:24 AM »
Hey Everybody.
Picked up a 1975 CB400 Four as a project. It was at some point converted to a Cafe Racer style which is kind of what I was looking for. It also came with a bunch of the original parts. It doesn’t run yet but engine seems to be in great shape - already removed it and tore down the top end. Plan is to do it from the ground up but leave the paint work.
I’ve been a car guy my whole life and it was time to take on another project.

Welcome!  I was a car guy too, until 2008 when gas went over $4 per gallon...bikes? ride all day on a tank or 2...stuff 10 in one garage...cant beat it.  CB400f left the Honda factory as a cafe racer, and a very nice one at that.
If it works good, it looks good...

Welcome from Texas from a car & bike guy.  What car do you have?

Consider starting a thread in the Project Shop area so we can follow along and answer any questions you may have.

Welcome from NC.

Good Luck on your project, I really like the 400.

What color is it?

Sorry Everybody, I apparently don’t have notifications on. Oops.
It was apparently Varnish Blue but has some “customizing” white with a red stripe. I’m not sure if it was painted or decal, yet. It has fiberglass fenders and front fairing. I did get the original rear fender but not the front. I do like the fairing and the color scheme even if it is aged a bit.
My most recent rebuild is a 1987 Toyota 2WD single cab with a 22R (carbed). I did the hot rods years ago and sold the last of them a couple of years ago.
I was really active in forums in the past until the PhotoBucket debacle. Just kind of killed it for me. I guess I have to figure out how to post pics and start a project thread. I have a ton of questions, but I have the service manual. Learned that lesson way back when. Haha.
