Something else in my shed with my CB350f
« on: February 29, 2024, 09:54:24 AM »
Been collecting parts for this for the past 17 years!
Random selection of engine block and various parts to date.
It's going to be a GT40 mk1 circa 1965/66 with 4.7 litre v8

Wow!
That's your "shed"?
Pretty cool build you've got going. I hope you see your vision through completion. So many never do.

That will be an awesome car!

There is a guy in my town that has a GT40, I've spoken with him a couple times. Hope to get to know him better so he will entrust me to take it for a drive!! [a guy can hope, right?]

Curious… what’s the monocoque tub for the GT40?

the chassis was a 'monocoque' design not used much in racing cars at that time. The chassis is made from thin sheet steel with 300+ separate panels and the 'skin' on some areas were load bearing components. It was used in WW2 aircraft and produces a lightweight and very strong structure.

The pictures below are not my chassis, mine is about 80% complete but I have all the parts and a mig welder just need the time to finish it!!! It was (and still is) a project to complete in retirement which is only a year or two away now.

And life always gets in the way along with a nice CB350F   ;D

If you guys like I have created a few videos on you tube of early progress and can post links to them. Warning very British humour involved?!?!

Have at it!!!!!
