CB550K valve cover painted from factory?
« on: February 15, 2024, 12:58:28 PM »
Does anyone know if the CB550K valve cover is painted from the factory?

Mine is painted but not sure if done after it left Japan.

my '75 550F is painted, definitely not a clear coated bare aluminum.

Have an original '77 550K which has had painted valve cover..as well as crankcase..since new.  Also have seen other years and models of 550 that are/were painted in those areas too.

Think that some other old 550 authorities here [Two Tired..Hondaman] could probably corroborate that.

It's 100% painted, I've stripped more than my fair share to get ceramic coated. Just sand one and you'll see the layer of paint coming off.

Thanks Guys, I decided to leave mine unpainted for now, just a little polished up.
