I use Simple Green Pro HD. works great on aluminum parts. I get mine at Home Depot for around $15 a gallon, a little bit goes a long way too!

I don't own an ultrasonic;I do use Simple Green Pro HD (it's a light purple color)with a toothbrush and thin, industrial rubber gloves for cleaning the aluminum parts while they're in a warm/almost hot 50/50 solution.I warm a pot on the stove-top(on L)a bit for quicker results.
I like how it brings out a very mild, barely noticeable light purple hue in the factory coating of the cast aluminum carburetor castings(I don't use the standard green stuff)and does not blacken/darken the factory coating,(you don't need it hot,but lower than simmer, about 100-120 degrees)but makes them look sparkly clean and enhances the look.
I love how the Pro HD 50/50 solution makes the factory coating on the carb. bodies look good in the sunlight after they're installed on the bike;a bit of multi-shade hues.   8)

I was standing in Harbor Freight staring at a small cleaner 2 days ago telling myself wait till Everything is moved into the new shop.. You have no room now.

Honestly the small HF cleaner sucks. A Vevor one is easily 4X more powerful and effective IMHO.

the bigger HF ultrasonic is supposed to be better but is never in stock
Thanks for the heads up!

Has anyone tried using the NAPA carb cleaner in an ultrasonic cleaner (comes in a gallon can, like paint)? My little ultrasonic cleaner doesn't seem to do anything but jewelry-sized parts. :(

As long as you don’t heat the solution, I see any reason not to try it. Warming might create some toxic fumes? I’m just not sure it’s needed. I’m only using a 20:1 ratio of distilled water: Simple Green and it’s enough to get my carbs back to their original look and spotless inside.

On the size topic(?), I do have a tank that will easily take a full rack of carbs (the one I repaired for a friend and stayed in my shop). But, I prefer to dismantle 100%. Doing the bare bodies, one at a time in the small tank, seems most effective. That last set took a bit of time but with a basic bench top sync., before installation, this was the initial read.

Had my first experience with Ultrasonic cleaner last week...used a friends, so not really sure what kinda soapy stuff he had in there.  Did not break the Pd41a's apart because that throttle and choke linkage is kind of a nightmare.  Gotta say I was a little disappointed.  More scrubbing than a 15 minute bath of Gunk carb dip bucket and still not as clean after an hour.  One nice thing was the scrubbing was more pleasant than with the highly toxic Gunk.
If it works good, it looks good...

The simple green aircraft stuff works great, the only down side is you just cannot as far as I can see walk into a brick and mortar and buy it.

Simple Green - SMP13406 Extreme Aircraft and Precision Cleaner

$28.50 on Amazon but one needs to be sure to not run out :-). It was kinda ho hum on oily greasy stuff but that is not it's normal use anyway. The kinda cheap "mean green" stuff does OK on that kinda stuff. The mean green did turn some aluminum gray but that was headed for vapor blast anyway.
