Don't overlook the easy fix.
« on: March 07, 2024, 06:25:31 AM »
K2 CB750 with a big bore kit, hooker 4-2 header, was chopperfied. Over the years my brother and I have made it less chopper more of a custom, we put all of our old chrome parts on it.
I have had different sets of carbs on it, swapped out points, at times it runs awesome other days it misses and runs lousy.
Yesterday my brother found the main ground cable loose and a little corroded. I wonder how many hours I've spent on carbs and points ignition, when it may have been just a loose ground.
Makes a fellow feel a little dumb.

Good experience to share.

My friends and I have had same issue with our cars.

Corroded connectors can do the same.
I had issues with not old connectors due to how I washed the bike.
No splashing on electrical stuff, left side cover. The tiny red/yellow? wire to battery plus another hidden risk.

Clean all grounding points and connectors should be on the list every few years.

I have a volt meter on bike that will help.

i'm a member of that club !

Me, too!
The last one was a ground cable that was corroded inside the little red jacket that Denso put on the cable, by the battery's end of the wire. There was only a few strands still making the trip, and they gave up while cranking the engine to get oil PSI up after getting it back into the frame. All of a sudden there was smoke coming out the side cover, yikes!
