Finally got hold of a 1973 CB350f in red. 33K on the clock, looks in very good condition. Had a quick ride around the local area and found a few things that need fettling.
First is a leaky fuel tap when 'ON' so seals and a new filter ordered to hopefully fix that.
Next up is a new clutch cable as the one on there looks a little 'tired', but don't we all after over 50 years!!!
Another job to do is change the speedo dial to read mph not kph as the bike was never intended for the British market.
Tax exempt, MOT exempt registered with DVLA (UK Department of Transport) as a classic vehicle. Haven't driven a motorbike for about 20 years but prior to that had been a biker since age 18.
Started first time and my first run was limited by the small fuel leak. Plan is to use it as a daily driver commuting the 3-4 miles to work a few times a week (although will be retiring soon, some would say not soon enough!).
I will be looking to change the seat and maybe the bars for clip-ons BUT there will be no grinding off of tabs on the chassis and no pod filters, those Honda guys knew what they were doing when they designed the airbox!. ANY modifications will be ONLY 'bolt on' so the bike can be returned to stock at any time.
I'm a 57 year old lecturer in computing with a PhD in AI and also a time served fitter and mechanical engineer. Also spent a few years as a Navigator in the Royal Air Force for kicks and giggles. Have a 'shed' in the back garden where she lives now alongside a car build that has taken 17 years so far so don't expect quick progress here. Will post pics of my little baby when I hit the 5 posts mark. Anyway rant over apart from....
