CB750K Kerker 4 into 1 Exhaust - What's it worth?
« on: March 07, 2024, 09:11:49 AM »
This CB750K Kerker 4 into 1 has about 30 hours of run time.  I'm missing the hose clamp that attaches the muffler to the header.  Any estimates as to what it's worth?

It's worth whatever someone's willing to pay, I see a $350 pipe (at best, run time is irrelevant, its a used pipe missing the canister clamp and any other hardware, like the strap that the exhaust canister normally hangs from). Unfortunately these days (for some) putting words like "kerker" and "chrome" in the same sentence automatically infers a decent sum yet anything chrome plated these days draws top dollar, so don't be surprised if the asking price is like twice that. But basically it's worth what ever you two can agree upon.
Start with the end in mind...

To be clear, the strap is there (it's the last picture).  Only the band is missing.  Thank you for your input!

I don't think you have priced a Kerker recently. The missing clamp is easy to replace. A clean, rust and hole free SOHC 750 full Kerker exhaust is a rare beast that should sell for at least double what you think.

Up until about 5?(or so) years ago, you could still buy that exact pipe brand new...and it was pricey!  About $900!  You had to buy from Supertrapp/Vance and Hines as all these companies have been consolidated...and, of course, only offer stuff for H-D and other cruisers, metric or otherwise now.  The larger branding indicates that it is not very old.  Original pipes built when Kerker was an independent company have much smaller less flashy branding.  If I was selling that, (I probably wouldn't lol lord knows if you will ever see one that nice again) I would probably ask $800.  No idea if someone would pay that much.  There are not many willing to pay for aftermarket performance parts for these bikes anymore.  The market has moved to value exactly original restorations and survivors.

In my experience, that is the best performing and sounding pipe you can put on a cb750.
If it works good, it looks good...

The Kerker has been discontinued as of 8/2023. I read the last of the pipes fitted poorly. It was a good run.....over 50 years of production. ;)

I've had at least 3 Kerkers on various bikes, great pipes and sound.  I'd value it at around $700...but it's a niche market as there are other pipes that are similar for about half that price...

Do these Kerkers fit all models of the CB750 SOHC? I have a buddy who has I believe a 1978 CB750K that he pulled a nice Kerker system off last summer and replaced it, since he had a NOS Honda original 4 into 4 that he had stashed away.
He likes the sound or lack of it from the original exhaust and maybe wish to move the Kerker if they have a $700 US value.
In Canadian that would be over $1000.00 with exchange and it maybe a motivator for him to sell.

Thoughts???

I'm pretty sure the Kerker's were designed to fit all years of 750's.

I believe you are correct as they all use that funky megaphone strap that attaches to the right upper shock mount.

I rode the gs1100 with a Kerker today, the straight through baffle was enough to appease the cop that followed me for a while.

Here is my old K1 with a custom Kirker one piece. Made probably around 71-72. Pardon the pic it is a picture of a Polaroid.

That funky strap was a joke, I fabbed up a new mount that went to the rear peg mount.

It wouldn't work with a 750F because of different placement of the foot pegs. But it should fit most K's.
