Jetting guesses (I mean logic)
« on: March 19, 2007, 08:11:06 PM »
I believe hondaman or two tired will be able to say I told you so.  Mike Dixson(? I know that is not correct, the site is on my work comp. and I am not at work) can also say the same thing.  So get this....Despite numerous builds and an insatiable thirst for any engine related information(moto gp, FI, CB's, my Civics, ford flathead's, model airplanes...you get the picture...) I decided to change way too many things with this 350F Cafe build.  Open v stacks and 4 into 4 open meggas.  No problem I say... leave the air screws (they meter the air on a 350F) alone, raise the needles a notch from stock #3 position and drill the mains to 84s.  The mains are dead on (thank you Jesus), the bleeds are easy work..the needles were not right at all.  My skills and knowledge said the needles were too lean because of the now copious quantities of air this thing can now pump.  No need to do a plug chop, raise them another notch and call it a day.  The work involved to do that sucks a whole bunch...I did it, it was worse.  A plug chop indicated as such...way too rich.  Guess where I am at now...Honda's #3 position.  Six hours of my life that will lend themselves to the pool of information that qualifies me as a master tuner of Honda CB350F's (that was a joke!)  I remember someone saying out of the aforementioned bunch, that don't be surprised, Honda's carb setting choices are pretty rich and will happily accept modifications without changes....I can now attest as such....

Main jets definitely work in conjunction with the needles.
