Lurking for years
« on: April 04, 2024, 05:59:03 AM »
I’ve been lurking around here for at least 6-7 years. I am
In Southern California and like wrenching on bikes as much as I like riding.
Former bmw moto mechanic- now only work on bikes for fun.
My stable has had a bit of everything in it but currently I’ve got a 75 cb750 a 72 cb100 a 77 BMWR80/7 and a 1970 Suzuki T350 -among others.

Thanks! I’m a bit behind the times- don’t have the social media stuff. But I’ll see what I can find on the regular  internets!

Once I figure out how to post pictures (I’m a little computer-challenged some times) I will! It gives me an excuse to roll some bikes out and take better pictures of them!

POD filters are gone- replaced with correct airbox, correct rear fender and front fender now. Fixed the seat and a bunch of other items.

A few years back I relaced the rusted out rims into new ally hoops- regretting the move to get black hoops but ya live and you learn!

The T350 has been an interesting bike- inherited about a year ago. Such a cool and unique machine! Really cool look. Very Japan. Unlike other bikes I’ve owned- I only know the history of this bike back about 10 years- My CB750 -I’m the second owner after a long series of events that concluded with me  finding it in the back of a print shop 35 years after it was taken apart for a head gasket replacement.

I call the bike Torpedo Juice because the original owner was a submariner and bought the bike while he was in the service. When I received the bike it had a vetter fairing, saddle bags highway pegs and a trailer hitch attached! Among the relics in the saddle bags were some slides from a deployment to an island somewhere and every receipt, slip of paper and invoice he ever got for the bike. It was on the road until 1985, with 50,000 miles. Unfortunately the man I bought it from was going through a health issue and needed to let it go. It’s been a labor of love to rebuild this bike-nearly everything has been replaced and upgraded along the way. I have a few cosmetic items to complete before it’s “done” but it’s a night and day difference from when I brought it home in milk crates.

Did he not still have the little trailer for the hitch? I remember how big those became over just a 3-year period, and then they vanished except behind [mostly] Gold Wings. I haven't seen one in years, though.

I don’t know what happened to the trailer, I do have a receipt from a painter he had paint the bike, trailer and a helmet all to match. Shaved all the emblems. Black with a blue pinstripe.

Yeah, that's the one! Those things were all over the Midwest.

That's where they originated from. I have a friend here in NH who has one currently still.
