Priming a CB750A Oil Pump
« on: April 05, 2024, 08:25:49 PM »
Hey all,
As I am approaching first start this weekend, I remembered reading about priming the oil pump for the standard CB750's I attempted to follow the instructions from a different post, but outside of leaking oil all down the side of the engine, I didn't have a ton of luck. Is there another method to priming the CB750A's since they run a different oil pump system?

Currently planning to pour some oil down the main gallery with the pressure sensor, along with seeing some people hook up a shop vac to blow into the oil filter feed, but I'm hoping not to resort to that.

Is it possible to build pressure with the kickstarter, or should I just run the electric starter until my main gallery gauge shows pressure?

Pull you spark plugs and spin it (in 10 second shots to keep the starter from overheating) long enough to fill the oil filter housing with oil. I usually get pressure in under a minute of cranking.
