New to the forum - looking for parts suppliers
« on: April 04, 2024, 02:01:18 PM »
I'm new to the forum, having just purchased a 1972 K2 (UK version I think, still trying to sort that out ) that runs very well but has plenty of cosmetics to deal with. I'm looking for advice on the top sites to buy replacement parts - not necessarily new old stock, I'm fine with aftermarket .

Yamiya, JT Marks on ebay, Z1 enterprises and Z1 parts.

All of the above. I like vintagecb750.com for “free” and fast shipping.

My first stop is always a Honda dealer for OEM stuff. Lots of stuff still available OEM, including stuff that wears out (seals, o-rings, oil filters, etc.) but also stuff like grips, levers, and other parts.

I get some OEM from South Sound Honda (use the 1976 parts listings), some from CMSNL, some from PartsNmore in Canada (Ontario?), some from VintageCB750 (seems to be the same as PartsNmore?), and used parts from either this forum or eBay.

For carb parts: stay with OEM. Do NOT use aftermarket carb brass parts, like from Keyster or K&L, in these carbs. You will find a nightmare of bad/no performance, among other problems. You can get jets from JetsRus.com, if you need them: your mainjets should be either #110 if made before 3/72 (frame date) or #105 after that.

I would add
https://www.siriusconinc.com/
They sometimes have odd bits that are hard to find elsewhere.
and
https://jetsrus.com/
for genuine Keihin jets.

And as was mentioned, Honda still carries a surprising number of parts for these old bikes.

Avoid aftermarket rubber parts for engine. Carb boots and tensioners that WILL crack.
Honda labeled bags only.

Mark, if it is a 72 UK bike there will not be a vin plate or frame date

Many thanks, great advice!  I'm looking to replace  non-original 4 into 2 mufflers with the original 4 into 4  - likely aftermarket  - any suggestions on best source for these?

Is that New York USA or New York Lincolnshire, UK 🤔🤔 It would be very unusual if a UK model ended up in USA. If it is New York, Lincolnshire, firstly I'm about 3 miles from you and have loads of 750 K2 parts and it would be better if you join us on the UK site on www.sohc.co.uk
Trust me I'm a Nurse, I promise it won't hurt....much

Cmsnl.com
Partzilla.com
davidsilverspares.com

Cms  and partzilla have great exploded views and stock many original honda parts.
Not sure how they do it but the parts I have ordered  from them and they come from the Netherlands to Washington state to my door in as little as 3 days (DHL)
About a year ago David silver spares got ahold of some NOS exhaust for my CB 360T. I ordered a pair and they were stunning. I have not seen NOS pipes for that bike in years.

Keep an eye on this thread for new pipes:

There's several makers out there today, and they make them in "runs", so you have to get your order in quickly as they don't last long. 'Tis a tribute to those who love this bike that manufacturers all over the world jump in to make them from time to time.

The earlier style of 4-4 has better flow than later 341 that came with K2 1972.
Called 300 style or No Numbers as Yamiya call them.
It is a pity that they cost much more. It is less restricting junk inside so they should cost less.

These work with a modified engine too. Not only the sound.

An old CB750 with 4-1 or 4-2 might have many parts missing as the head spigots and clamps, 2 heat shields for 4-4 and stock passenger foot pegs with the long bolts fasten them an pipes.
