K8 750 and k3 750 wheel a direct swap?
« on: April 10, 2024, 01:58:45 PM »
Is a K8 750 and k3 750 wheel a direct swap?

Have a 78 and a 73 . My 73 750 tires lookin suspect so until I replace and install could I swap my 78 750 over. I'm thinking yes.

While I'm asking I have a 16 harley rim in the back of my 73 and don't particularly  care for the anesthetics. Will the 78 rear swap over too? It's stock.

From what I understand, the later k7 and k8 have a different offset to the chain. That may cause some issues. Someone with more experience will likley chime in soon.

You just have to keep the sprocket carrier with the bike....hubs are the same but the sprocket carriers are different.

Also, although your 73 apparently had a 16" hog wheel, it is supposed to have an 18" rear stock.  The 78 has a 17".
If it works good, it looks good...

Thanks on the rear wheel info.

Can I put my front 78 wheel on my front 73?

The 78k had 630 chain too…and a 10mm longer output shaft for its double roller output bearing upgrade..😁
Front sprocket used a single bolt for retention instead of the two bolts with the interference spline plate..

Yes it'll fit just the same even though the hub will be a different design. Brake disc should line right up as well, speedometer drive will be right at home too.
