Hey I'm back! My sister just had a baby so I've been running around and helping out with stuff for a while. Back to the topic at hand!

Tracksnblades1, my timing light has shown consistent spark timing across all rpm ranges, no jittering has ever been observed. By jittering I assume you mean the timing light would illuminate at slightly different intervals when holding a steady rpm (lighting up when advance marks are before the tdc mark on the crankcase, then after the tdc mark, then before again, etc...). Let me know if I'm understanding you correctly. As for the wet rag video, I'm housesitting right now and do not have access to my beloved Pearl :'( but I have used a laser thermometer gun and can confirm I am running on all four cylinders. Their temps after ripping her around for a few miles were 500 fahrenheit to 450 fahrenheit. And I thought I would be using the idle circuit at 2000 rpms (with the throttle closed) because different carb circuits were activated by the position of your slide, not by the rpms of your engine?

Hondaman, good to know! I have a range of Keihin idle jets right now (32, 35, 38, 40) but have been scared to run too lean considering these carbs came with 40s stock (086A carbs are on her right now, round tops). I believe these carbs were actually for the K6 CB750's but I bought her like this. Am I chasing my tail trying to tune these carbs for a 1978 CB750F that has pod filters, aftermarket cam, and straight pipe 4-1 exhaust? I have no accelerator pump so I'm not expecting super fast takeoffs, but so far with how she performed on my last ride I think she is running very well (above 2k rpm that is). I'll be chopping some plugs in the future to make sure all is well. I got her up to 9,000 rpm and she was still wanting to pull, but I chickened out going any further. No need to blow her up 30 miles into her rebuild :P

Thanks,
-New Uncle

Update: Cut the advance springs down further and slightly advanced the timing (have the rightmost advance mark about 3 degrees before timing mark on the case) and now she idles wonderfully at around 1100 rpm. I played around with advancing and retarding the timing and found this to be the best setup for her to be able to idle low and still have some low-end torque. There is also no substantial spitting or dripping from the carbs anymore (which the cutting of the advance springs solved).

Thanks to everyone for your feedback, I'm finally on the right track and am going to do some plug chops to make sure her AFR is spot on   :D
