I have a 2019 VStrom 650T Touring ABS bike since new... The bike comes with plastic side panniers that are locking. Well one of the locks has the lock cylinder come loose and I cannot figure out what retains it.
There is not a space for a E-Clip or C-clip or other locking ring that I can see, the lock cylinder comes out when you remove the key on the key. Fortunately the driving pins for the cylinder aren't popping out to be lost. The area for the lock and lock cylinder do not have a removable panel to access from inside.
I am stumped on what retains it and what came loose or was lost and how this happened. The lock set wAs installed by the dealer and is keyed to the bike's ignition. The key for the bike has a encoded chip that prevents theft with a key that has been copied and cut
and the key with chip can only be programmed by a Suzuki dealer.
8 was given a lock for the accessory top box if I added that accessory later...
But it is boxed up somewhere from the move 4 years ago, like many boxes haven't been opened yet, no where to put the stuff...
I never did add the Suzuki top box...
I bought a Givi top box but never added it as my right hip needs replacement so I don't arch it higher than I need to and I do not make getting on the bike harder than I need to loading anything where the rear passenger would sit, everything is kept on rear rack or in the panniers.
I'm a big guy so I don't fold up easy but most of my height of 6 feet 2.5 inches, (I have spinal deterioration so my height of youth of 6' 4.25" was a few years back...)
So, my legs are stocky and I am broadly built like a linebacker.
Stepping into me you typically are the one who gets bounced off, I am like walking into a padded wall. If I see you coming stepping into me from the front of you turn around into me I will try to catch you if I can. Had a few women I was standing behind or to one side or another and they didn't realize I was near them as I am told I move very quietly for a big guy...
Had a small young lady, younger than myself, and she was in a conversation and I was 3 feet from her waiting to speak to whom she was talking with. She wrapped up her conversation d d turned and had her eyes closed for a moment and stepped towards me opened her eyes as she stepped into me I didn't expect it so I could pivot away or out of her path. And I saw her realize as she stepped into me and ow escaped her lips as she walks into me and I wrapped my arms around her in a large circle and caught her as she quite literally bounced off me her face impacting my chest. I likely filled her vision as she opened her eyes...never really understood why she did the long blink. Something psychological in her make up or the topic i guess...
Anyway, I will take some photos so you can see this and maybe I will do a video...
When locked I haven't tried to pull the cylinder and haven't seen it someone jammed a screw driver in it as it doesn't look violated that way...
I have the bags off the bike as the bike is getting some major maintenance currently...
It is quite warm... Toasty in fact was 89 Wednesday and 89F forecasted today where S8 live beyond the Tucson Mountains in the Sonoran desert
Thanks... I will post some pictures Thursday...
