I was born there.  Moved away a long time ago.  Still have family there and all over South Louisiana.

It's going to be hot and steamy.  If you're going for the French Quarter experience, be prepared for anything.  Have some beignets.  Have a shrimp Po-boy.  Have a roast beef po-boy.  Have a muffaletta from Central Grocery.

I’ve stayed in New Orleans twice for national meetings. I can’t remember the name of the cool old hotel I stayed in just off Bourbon St but the ceiling in the room seemed higher than one in my shop. Bourbon St smelled like stale piss and puke.  But there were plenty of random boobies to be seen. 8)

I had a lot of great food in NO but I was totally unimpressed with Bourbon Street.
One observation about NO, everyone drinks everywhere all the time.

We ate at an open air restaurant and the food was great.  But the New Orleans twist to it was they had a big net stretched over the tables, presumedly to keep stuff from falling above.  But the mesh wasn't enough to keep bird #$%* off the tables, which they all had from what I could see.  The birds seemed to congregate over the net.

One observation about NO, everyone drinks everywhere all the time.

Hence the proliferation of bare boobies to be seen for the price of some cheap beads. 8)
