Topic: Front Wheel bearing installation sequence?

Any special sequence for 1972 cb750 frt wheel bearing installation? One side has no stop the other has a stop and threaded lock or adjustment so I figure there should be some logical installation order for these. My clymer/hanes just say "install bearing".

Put the stop bearing in 1st to set the place next for the center spacer, which stops/spaces the other bearing.

That makes perfect sense. watched a youtube video where a guy was putting them in what I'd call "backwards" beating the one where the outer race can move position in first then he put in the spacer and drove in the one that is held in with the nut.

How snug do I do the slotted bearing retainer?

Knock bearing in hard to shoulder then tighten retainer till the drill marks where you removed the stakings line up

Do you have the Honda Service Manual? Did you drill the "staked punch marks" before you removed the retainer?

With a special socket to remove and install the retainer (after you drill out the punch marks)

If you don't properly drill out the stake punch marks,  you will screw up the retainer threads and hub threads. The staking punch marks are to lock the bearing retainer in place so it doesn't move.
