CB550 Fork Bolt Stud Replacement
« on: April 28, 2024, 08:17:47 PM »
My rear left Fork Bolt Stud is stripped. OEM number is #92700-08050-30, ordered two from ebay.

I have seen instructions and videos online for removing the tricky center bolt in each fork leg, but nothing on how to replace these.

Has anyone done this, or could point me in the right direction?

Part #24 in the diagram linked below for reference.

Like Bryan, lock on vice grips on the stud, heat the fork leg around the stud with a good heat gun to expand the aluminum(the heat also releases any locktite if there was any was used on the stud), then pull on the vise grips to unscrew. (Remember lefty loosey) Reset the vise grips as needed to finish unscrewing. Having the fork leg in a vise(with soft jaws to protect the aluminum) helps to unscrew the stud too.
