How remove the speedometer cable from the front wheel
« on: May 13, 2024, 11:38:29 PM »
Hi! I have to remove the speedometer cable from the front wheel (I have to change seals in the forks)
In the Honda manual it says - remove the screw (and they have a really bad picture). When I look at my Honda (nighthawk 1983 650)- all I can se is an Allan screw.

Is the right way to remove the cable just to take out the Allan screw? And the cable will come off?

Thats not an sohc setup and the pics are too dark to see what you are asking about

Tommy
You need to post your questions in the Other bikes section  for your 1983 Nighthawk.
It is not a SOHC(Single Over Head Cam)as it has Dual cams, it is a DOHC bike. Too many differences with your bike.

If it has a cable drive speedometer there's a serated nut like on the old Honda's. If it has an electronic speedometer the cable comes out of the drive with a JIS screw holding it in. The allen head is likely a replacement.
