Wow, surprised and impressed that Mr. World would bother to post here, even  though it shows me to have my foot well on its way to my mouth!  Welcome Vic World!
If it works good, it looks good...

That bike is really interesting. Look really good, a more modern look despite it was  the beginning. ;D
Rebuild kits to make our later CB750's to look like the prototype? ;)

I thought Honda used CB450 parts for the first CB750 tests. Read it somewhere.
Or if the engine was tested on a CB450.

It would be fine to see the bike in parts during the restoration. The carbs were better than what to follow on K0 and later?

The 4-4 like the Lotus Root pipes or another design?

This forum is the place for everyone working on/in/with Honda CB's!  ;D ;D
They have lots to share and maybe details to find here as well.

Really interesting when people have worked on the bikes from the very beginning and can tell about it.

Lots of old knowledge  to be dug up and gathered here.

That bike is just a marvel when one thinks about the journey that was made in Japan between late 1945 and when the CB750 was created. Astonishing.

Off topic,  https://www.ujenimotors.com/anatomy_of_a_sandcast.html. This is a great poster Ujeni did of a sandcast. If this prototype was ever taken apart a similar poster would be fantastic.

Thank you Vic World for saving this bike.

Vic, as a member from the UK and someone who prefers the 500 to the 750 i would still like to say thank you for coming on here with you knowledge and information.

BryanJ,

No problem!...and I sincerely thank you for the kind words!
And the 500 was a nice model from Honda))

Thanks again,
Vic

PeWe,

Thanks very much for the kind words about the bike.
Honda did grab (and modify) a few 450 (chassis) parts to build it...but not very many.

All during its restoration, I did in fact spend weeks taking fotos...there are some 203 "modern fotos" that can be seen here on the website:

https://www.cb750prototype.com/

A note: Contrary to what it Looks like on a cell phone, there are in fact Six separate pages to the website, Not just the Home Page....meaning best to view on a computer if you can!

Thanks much again,
Vic

What did Dick Mann ride at Daytona? Was it based on a prototype or a production sand cast bike?
I wonder.

That race was run in 3/'70, Honda had been producing 750s for just about a year by then, well into the diecast bikes. Thx

Hi Vic .. I met you at the David Silver CB750 Event in the UK, when I was introduced to you by my good friend Chris Rushton ..  You took one look at the pair of silver painted carbs I brought along and instantly identified that they were indeed from the P.P. Gold 'Brighton Show' bike. I did offer those carbs to the owner of the gold P.P. bike, who was also present at that event  but he showed  no interest in them (I would gladly have given him them for free if he had shown interest as they only 'owed' me £30). So I handed them to Chris... Later,  Chris identified them as being modified CL77 carbs and bought a set to try replicate the set of four. It turned out that the carbs and Chris's master cylinder from the Gold P.P bike came from the estate of Alf Briggs who ran Honda's Service Centre in Nottingham UK in the 1960's and was a good friend of Mr. Honda. I understand Alf and his team modified the Brighton Gold PP bike, so that it could be sold to Lord Denbigh and retained some of the parts that were removed.

When I saw the post on here regarding your 1968 prototype it really blew my mind,  particularly the complexity of the carbs compared with the four P.P bikes carbs. and the sheer volume of significant differences to the P.P bikes.  What a stunning resto you have done saving such an iconic bike of immense historical importance. I did mention your  '68 prototype bike on the Sandcast Only Forum about 3 weeks ago but sadly no replies to date,  which is a real shame.

Hello,

Thanks so much for all the kind words about the bike.

And yes, that show in Leiston was very memorable. A lot of good people and machines showed up...Very glad I was invited.

If you haven't seen, here is a foto of the Prototype from The Quail show recently:

No problem to view all fantastic photos on a phone.

The text are links to be used that I did not test first time. ;D ;D

I need to give my bikes a good clean after viewing ...  Dust, pollen, a little oil and grease.
